Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

It's officially over.

Well after a much more eventful experience with Cytotec than I was anticipating, it was confirmed by ultrasound that there are no longer any "products of conception" (I hate that term. I took the first dose last night at 9, second at 1am. Bad cramping all night but no real bleeding. Then this morning the "cramps"/contractions became continuous. I had terrible diarrhea and was throwing up with each one. I passed out and my husband took me to the ER. Got IVF, antiemetics and things finally calmed down. They confirmed with ultrasound my uterus is empty. It turns out I probably passed the sac at home but was so sick I didn't know. I'm glad it's over but now just feel empty.

  • Oh no! I'm so sorry! But at least it's over.... I'm still worried mine isn't working
  • I'm so sorry :( I ended up in the ER too after I passed out.
Take some time to yourself... It's almost all over.
  • @oopsiedaisies‌ I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this today as well. Hoping you're starting to feel better physically. Mentally I know it's still tough.

    Thank you @FigureSkater8‌.

Oh no @mustlovedogs63, I hope it works for you soon (even though that seems like a terrible thing to wish someone). Did they have you take one or two doses? I mainly just had the terrible pain/nausea when I passed the sac but now the bleeding has started.

@4N6s‌ sorry to hear you ended up in the ER as well. I hope you're feeling better now.

  • I am so sorry. I too feel empty. Hugs to you.
  • Oh wow, I am so so sorry that it made you so sick. However, be so very thankful that the Cytotec worked for you completely. It didn't for me... I bled literally for a month and a half until I had surgery, and then they removed the remaining "products of conception."

I hope you're on your way to moving forward, in whatever manner that works for you! Hugs!

  • Oh my goodness I'm so sorry you had to go to the ER, but glad it's all over.  I know it's sad and upsetting, but it's so much worse when it drags out.  I hope you are at home resting.  Hang in there.  Hugs.

  • @nikiswimr I did three doses and it was horrible. I did end up passing the sac although ultrasound today showed some remnants that I still need to pass, so we are waiting it out for now. I just wish it was over so I could feel like myself again and maybe start to heal emotionally.

Just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you. Just such a sucky thing to happen to anyone..
  • @mustlovedogs63‌ Cytotec was seriously terrible. Wish I'd had the D&C to just be done with it. On my ultrasound all fetal tissue was gone but my lining was still super thick and vascular and they told me I have "lots of bleeding left to go" but everything has slowed way down. I'm mainly spotting and I feel like this will never be over. Thinking of you too.

  • I was going to take my Cycotec today, but fortunately my body expelled the sac on it's own last night.  I miscarried at 10weeks.  The stuff sounds horrible, but I didn't want a D&C to harm my chances of conceiving again (per doc's advice).  The cramps were horrible doing it naturally, I can't imagine how you felt taking the pills.  So sorry your experience was worse than it had to be.  Take care and best wishes.
  • @Maggilu514‌ I'm so sorry for your loss but glad things were able to proceed naturally for you.
