January 2013 Moms

Not sure if I'm ready for this.

It looks like dd will be going for her first sleepover at grandma's on Saturday. I've never been away from her overnight. I know it's good for her and it would be nice for her to at least have one sleepover before LO arrives in December. DD will be staying with mil when we are in the hospital. I am already stressing out about it. DD doesn't sleep well in a pnp which is what she will sleep in there, and I worry she will be up all night. I don't know if I'm ready!

  • Hang in there @jessie333! She will do great! And once she gets the hang of it you will wish you had done it sooner. DS loves going for sleep overs now, and mommy loves the quiet time!

  • I worry about DS sleeping well for others as well.  He's only spent a few overnights with my parents or IL's, and both times my mom and MIL have been like, "so what if he doesn't sleep well, it's one night."  They love having him overnight, and he loves spending time with them.  It's going to be fine.

  • It'll be okay! She'll probably have a blast with your MIL. DS has spent quite a few nights away from us with either my ILs or my parents and it's always been harder on us than on him.

  • Don't worry.

The first two times DS slept TTN was at his Gram's house, and that was 3 months apart.  In other words, he didn't sleep through the night AT HOME until he was 11 months old but he did so for his grandmother TWICE when he was 7 months and 10 months old.

Think, instead, about how much sleep YOU'LL get.
