Was wondering if there is a prenatal vitamin that is "the best"? I order mine from a private website. The brand is "promise"... But my doctor told me they give them free at shnucks and a vitamin is a vitamin. I kind of disagree with my doctor given the research I've done... And I pay a significant amount for mine. Worth it or no? Do you guys take a higher grade prenatal or just regulars from shnucks or walmart?

It is FAR more worthwhile to spend your money on high quality food & use your energy to worry about your general diet. You absorb nutrients better from food & diet DOES make a difference in pregnancy outcome.
But if you can afford it & prefer expensive ones, there's no harm. I take Rainbow Light Prenatal One -- was interested in the herbal content & liked the reviews. I add calcium & extra vit D in my diet + other supplements. And I will soon be adding DHA because I'm not the greatest at getting enough in my diet. But I certainly am aware that I don't need to be spending the money & don't think these are going to make me grow a healthier baby compared to free ones.
Mostly vitamins give you expensive pee.
I agree with other posters, I don't believe one or the other leads to a healthier baby, I'm just trying to be more consistent with what I normally put in my body. You know, other than the pastries and sweets this little one seems to love....Ahh pregnancy...
My SO tried to be a smart ass at one of the doctor appointments and asked if the vitamins I chose were "good enough" and my OB said absolutely. They have the folic acid & omegas that the baby needs.
I actually take less pills now that I'm pregnant since we had to temporarily cut out a couple prescriptions so hey, can't really complain.

I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.
