Pregnant after a Loss

SCH 12 weeks. Talk me down.

Girls, I need prayers and a serious talking down. I'm 12 weeks 2 days and woke with a decent amount of brown blood. I was diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma /hemorrhage at 40% of my uterus. Baby and placenta look perfect and SCH is on opposite side of my uterus from the placenta.

I'm seriously losing it. Give it to me straight girls. What am I looking at?

  • It was a doctor I've never met. She seemed optimistic but I felt that a lot of it was fake. She said that we are just waiting for it to go away and there is nothing I can do but she didn't seem genuine.

  • No experience to share, but lots of hugs and T&Ps for you.
I do know from reading other posts that these often clear up over time, without any issue with mum or baby. Blood is scary though.. Big hugs.

  • I don't have any experience with SCH, but I wanted to send many (((HUGS))) and T&Ps your way. I hope this is just the SCH resolving.

  • I had SCH I read and researched a lot. 97-99 percent of all cases end perfectly fine which is really not different than a normal pregnancy. From my research it is not too much a cause of concern unless the SCH is larger than the gestational sac. In which case there is added risk. Not sure when you say 40% if you mean 40% of the size of the gestational sac...in which case that is much smaller. Is it near the cervix? Mine was and it bleed out as well. I hear when they are near the cervix they quite often bleed out.

  • Oh! Also ask your doc about getting on progesterone if you aren't already. There is research that supports this. Progesterone therapy to help clear the issue. Also ditto advice on pelvic rest!

I'm on progesterone already but does research support it past 13 weeks in SCH cases? I'm scheduled to stop it next week and that's still the plan.

  • @JuddandJessica YES research strongly promotes progesterone for SCH regardless of the trimester my infertility friend IRL is on it now due to SCH and early contractions at 21 weeks. Insist your doctor leave you on it and don't take no for an answer. I say it all the time but the doctor works for YOU. You can ALWAYS go to a different doctor. As a patient you have a right to input in your own health. Better to get the Rx!

  • @BackstreetPixie what kind of tear was it? If you don't mind me asking. My husband's administrative assistant has one too and she is terrified poor thing. I love her! She's a total sweetheart!

Side note: Both me and my husband's admin asst. are both PG only weeks apart so poor DH has to literally deal with a PG chick 24/7!!! HAHAHAHAHA he has been saying one of us is always in crisis. It's really sweet how he is to her though. She got the tear and he insisted she go work from home for a few days and take it easy. Love my DH!!!!!

  • @christina10  They didn't specify. They just said it was a tear in the uterus and should heal in a few weeks. I probably should have asked for more details but I was just so relieved i was not having a m/c that I didn't even think to ask.
