Im curious what my three year old will think of me nursing newborn. How do you explain it to a toddler? Im not overly concerned or anything because its totally natural. Just curious of others experiences
I haven't had this experience, but I think if you just say something like "babies need to drink milk that is made by their mommies. When you were a baby, you drank milk the same way." Should be sufficient.

I have lots of friends with newborns so I always talked to him about what they were doing when they fed their babies around us (after making sure they were comfortable with it). I also talked up all the stuff he gets to eat that baby can't to combat jealousy -- ie, you get to eat apples and macaroni and watermelon, baby only gets mama milk! My 2 year old has been totally cool with his brother nursing, he's fascinated but not jealous.
I always go with some babies drink milk from their moms, some babies drink milk from bottles. Babies can only drink milk - no big boy (girl) food like you.
My 5 year old at the time found the whole idea hilarious and weird but she was only breastfed a few weeks and had never really seen breastfeeding. After a day or two of a baby breastfeeding in front of her, it became normal to her. I love that she sees me nursing at now 6, because I'm hoping the positive and normal impression will stick with her.
My DD who is 2 asked what I was doing, while I was nursing my DS. I told her that he was just drinking mommy milk because he's too little to eat big kid food like her. She liked the response and any time my DS cries, she will tell me that baby brother needs nummy ummy mama milk.
