First belly stretch mark

I'm just a little sad over it...lol. Definitely happy about pregnancy, but fear this is a sign more is to come........have been using my belly creams twice a day after showering. Not sure if they are really effective.

Which brand are you using? The Mustela is expensive but it came highly recommended from a couple of different friends.

( I'm only a few weeks along so I have no idea if it will work on me. I def am prone. I have marks on my hips still from puberty! I'm 41 so I guess they aren't going away)

@1220winterbride I'm using palmer's cocoa butter cream. Yeah I have hip stretch marks from puberty and some from weight gain in mid 20s. I'll have to try the mustela, I'll see if I can find some on amazon

All the lotions in the world won't prevent stretch marks - they're sub dermal, meaning the outer layer of skin that is hydrated from lotions isn't the one that is tearing. Hydration plays a bigger role in keeping your skin elastic, but unfortunately genetics plays the biggest role.

Hang in there! That purple shiny stripe will fade after birth. I keep teasing DH that they'll be my tiger stripes as a warrior mark for all we've been through to have this baby - like a war wound forged in valiant combat, I will wear them with pride ;-)

Ditto to southern! The marks are below the surface of the skin, so nothing you can buy is going to prevent them. Genetics is the biggest indicator. They do fade and millions and millions of women have them, so you're in good company!

Mine didn't show up until 32-34 weeks, I thought I had escaped until I caught myself nekkid in a full length mirror! I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a sad day for me

I know genetics is huge, but still gonna try to fight them lol. It doesn't hurt to try :P I know hubby will still love me and my stretch marks. Not like I was ever a bikini wearing chick anyway.

I have to throw in a plug for water and argan oil... my mom got stretch marks during her pregnancies and I even have some on my hips form when I was a teen so I know that I'm prone to them. But I've made it to 37 weeks without any and I have no idea why- I still have 2-4 weeks to go so I could still end up with some but it's starting to seem less likely. I've tried to make sure that I drink tons of water and have been slathering argan oil on my belly/boobs/hips daily after showering since the beginning of 2nd tri, no idea if the combination is what has prevented them but I have no other explanation! Worth a shot?

Ugh, I've been dreading this day, so I can imagine how you feel. My mom has really bad ones, although she gained fifty pounds with my brother. I will be watching this thread for all the suggestions for what MIGHT help!

I gained 36 and 56lbs with my boys and never used anything and never got any stretch marks on my stomach. I do have the ones on my hips from puberty but they have lightened so much over the years they are hard to see. My Dr was pretty amazed when I was pregnant because my stomach was HUGE and I had "no stretch marks". He had a foreign accent and it was cute hearing him say it.

I never thought to ask my mom when she was alive if she had them. I don't remember if she did or didn't, she was a bigger woman and never wore a bikini or showed off her stomach.

I know how you're feeling. I'm 26 weeks and got 2 on my boob this week. I seriously am terrified of what's to come! lol I slather my body in Mother's special blend oil (off amazon) every night. So far my belly is okay but I do have 2 small ones on my boob. I'm curious if once they start htat's the end of it or what? lol The crazy part? I don't even feel like my boobs have grown very much!! So strange!!
