Pure F-ing torture

Had my NT scan this morning. Drank my 24oz of water. Didn't pee. They were running 30 farking minutes behind schedule. I thought I was going to die, even after relieving some pressure 3 times.

But baby was behaving, wiggly, and stretched out. And found out that my placenta is anterior. Again. So much for feeling the baby earlier this time.

One of the worst feelings is not being able to let your pee loose.

But yay for a good ultrasound.

I think it's just mean at this far along to make you have a full bladder for the scan. It helps to get better views, but you don't need to be bursting at the seams to see your uterus anymore. A little bit of bladder filling is enough.

They just really need to come up with new technology that makes you not need a full bladder. Then I was too full for her to see my ovaries. I almost groaned it felt so good to pee.

My tech didn't care if my bladder was full or empty. But it happened to work out that she or better measurements with a full bladder. I peed 3 x in the office.

I wasn't told either way. I showed up slightly full and had to do a urine sample so by the time it was ultrasound time, it was empty.

But I agree, waiting and not being able to pee sucks.

LOL! I had to have a full bladder too, but knowing how difficult it was going to be to hold, I didn't start drinking anything until about a half hour before the appointment. It was still torture, but I wouldn't have made it if I'd started any earlier. As it was I had to 'relieve pressure' a couple times before they called me back.

I was told to drink a full glass 1 hour before. The tech in the middle of my NT wanted me to empty my bladder completely as it would be easier for her to see. She said something regarding my anatomy being good to see without it. So I guess it really depends on the person.

Before my first scan this pregnancy I drank so much water that I had never needed to pee so badly in my life. They were running a bit late too and I had no choice but to go to the bathroom. They said I could let a little bit out. There was no stopping it once it started. I let it all out. Turned out it didn't matter anyway because when I had the scan 10 mins later my bladder was already full again. And because I have a retroverted ute they ended up having to do an internal ultrasound meaning I had to empty my bladder again. Such drama. Congrats on your wiggly baby!

No one told me to have a full bladder at my first u/s at 8w - thankfully they were able to get good measurements without having to go vaginally. For my 12w appt - I didn't start drinking a bottle of water until I got to the DR office. Thankfully, my dr office does the u/s first so they are always on time - by the time the u/s is over I need to pee and go pee in a cup for them. So far this is how it has played out. It is just the beginning

I drank the 1 litre of water an hour before my first appointment. She told me I was way too full and I had to go empty 3 times. Second ultrasound I drank 1 bottle of water on the drive to the clinic, was super comfortable the whole time and was told I had the perfect amount. I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be painfully full.

I haven't had to have a full bladder for any of mine. I actually had to go twice before my NT because the tech couldn't see. It's weird how places differ.

The week I went I was just getting over the flu so the 7:30 am appointment I had .. Whoops forgot to drink! Thank goodness I naturally have a small bladder- all went perfectly well with her pushing a little further down on the pelvic area! I think cheating a little is fine

My apt card always says full bladder I just drink water on the way and never had an issue

I'm sorry for your experience! That's awful to make a pregnant lady wait any length of time with a full bladder.
My drs office makes you pee in a cup as soon as you're called back then if the u/s tech needs a bladder filled any they have water for you, no torture!

Mine never told me to drink a lot before I went in and didn't complain about not having a remotely full one. We got good pics and all that. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Thankfully I didn't need a full bladder for my NT. I did for the first u/s. Luckily they were on time!

Bummer on the anterior placenta. I had one with DD and DS and was really hoping to get lucky this time but nope. This is my last oregnancy so I was hoping to experience some of the crazy movements I hear others talk about.

That is such torture! My doc actually had me empty my bladder before my NT scan, which surprised me. Guess it all depends on the office and the equipment they use.
