So I haven't posted in awhile, working mom stressful job...excuses I mainly lurk so sorry if this has been mentioned before but I thought I'd share my tama of the day since I wasn't familiar with this until today. So I'm getting ready to change Claire into her pjs and I pull off her sock and she starts wailing! I couldn't figure out what was wrong but then I noticed her ring toe( not sure if that's a thing) was super red and swollen upon further investigation I notice that she had a hair wrapped around it and her middle toe. I tried to pull it off BIG MISTAKE that made it much worse. At this point I'm freaking out she's freaking out so I yelled for my husband. I ended up having to hold her keg down while he cut the hair off with a knife, thank god he has steady hands and is a nice cube under pressure. Long story longer I gave her some Tylenol for the pain cleaned it up and out ointment on it and she's finally asleep after all that trama. I called the afterhours nurse to see if I should bring her in to get the toe checked out since the hash was pretty deep. When the doc called me back he said this was unfortunately fairly common as moms enter the hair loss phase of post partum life and to be extra diligent about checking toes fingers and on makes penises for thus problem. He also told me to verify all the hair was off if not she could lose the strangled appendage. As if I'm not paranoid enough but knowing I almost got DD's toe amputated was traumatic! I have to check tomorrow once the selling has gone down to assess the cut but the toe is back to pink and the discomfort is gone so he said I'm probably in the clear, just a word of caution to the other mamas with massive hair loss watch your LO's digits!

Update:
So after a sleepless night, mommy guilt is the worst, I woke up and checked her toes again in the morning. The one that had the bad cut wasn't swollen anymore but it was still very red and had an open sore so I got her in to the pedi this morning and now she's on an antibiotic cream as a precaution with strict instructions to keep an eye on it. Thanks for all the well wishes I hope no one else has to go through this trama, mine was a pretty severe case so its not commonly as bad as I had. So new diaper changing routine includes foot and hand inspection. Also nighttime routine now includes pajama inspection.
