I will be attending a baby shower in a few weeks. After browsing the registry I see FTM-to-be forgot a few essential items on the list ( that I couldn't live without). What would you do? Get her what she asks for or get stuff that you loved that you're pretty sure she will too? For example, I requested and received the same hooded towels on her list but they were much thinner and smaller than I expected. I loved the oversized towels for LO. Or, I don't see a white nose machine which has been a life saver for us, although not everyone uses it.

Re: First baby shower after LO
Married DH 7/30/11
CSC arrived 5/7/12
CHC arrived 6/2/14
DH's cousin has two little girls slightly older than LO and she gave us a basket with her "lifesavers" - including a nose freida that I had never heard about. She wrote a cute little note, something like from one mom to the next. I thought it was cute, I was happy with any gifts and especially happy with any "tips".
So I say go for it. Maybe include a registry item if it's in your budget.
A coworker is pregnant and I can't wait to give her a wubanub, lol.
Almost no one got us gifts off our registry, we ended up with a whole drawer full of short sleeved onsies, and books. Appreciated, of course. But not exactly to plan.
