Eggs as well! I saw this study too, and is was a relief to me. Due to food aversions some of the only protein I could stomach in first tri were eggs and bacon and I ate a LOT of it. Then someone told me last week that the nitrates were bad for my baby and I freaked out...so I googled "bacon pregnancy" and this popped up. I felt a bit better.
Nothing I can do about the bacon I already ate, anyways.
And I've decided that as long as I follow common sense, take my vitamins and avoid the big no-nos (ya know, like tequila shots) LO will most likely be fine.
Eggs and bacon for everyone!

Also, I hate the mentality that you should feel "ashamed" to eat certain foods. You're an adult, eat what and when you want...just don't get crazy with it.
Yes. You don't need an "excuse" to "pig out" on bacon
I eat bacon. Because I like bacon. It does not make me a pig, no matter how much bacon I do or do not eat.
Just eat the fucking bacon or don't, no need to wrap your bacon in guilt and shame.
I was using pig out to make a bacon pun since it comes from pigs
Hey, it's protein. Lol. I eat what i want as long as it's in moderation and i throw some fruit and vegetables in there too. Even pre-bfp, i've never been a food shamer. Enjoy what you like and as long as you stay semi-active, why beat yourself up?
Lol true, but hey, I'm not saying the source or the research is airtight. I'm saying that rather than drive myself insane with "zomg! Everything is gonna kill my baby!" I'm gonna eat some bacon from time tontime, and keep my sanity

@c+est+la+vie I would only eat turkey bacon until I was pregnant now I just want pig bacon, like all the time.
Haha fair enough I haven't had a craving for pig bacon yet, but I did for a grilled turkey bacon, tomato, and cheese panini (one of those rare occasions!).
Has anyone heard of the study the says chocolate cake is an excellent source of the components of glycogen. Glycogen is baby's sole food source and vital to growth and development. Eat up!
Please, do tell me more. (Basically, almost crying tears of joy about this.) not that i'm avoiding cake but if it'll make the baby healthy on top of that, added bonus!! :-)
You just made my life - I'm just getting back into bacon after bad MS. I made bacon coated in maple syrup, brown sugar and chili powder with deviled eggs as an appy for a party the other day - I was a hit!!
Awesome! I had bacon for dinner night before last... just bacon. Then this morning my kids and I had bacon with a side of applesauce spice muffins for breakfast. It was amazing.
Re: I finally have an excuse to pig out on bacon cravings

That being said, I fully appreciate their endorsement of bacon eating, and will gladly follow their recommmendation.
Yup, I was raised in NC. Certain parts of the state you can't drive through with your windows down because of all the hog farms.
That said, Mmmmmm bacon ...
