Does anyone else get super annoyed when they see FB photos of girls with their hands on their hips? These girls aren't even in college anymore. What are you hiding? It doesn't make you look skinnier, it just makes you look basic and shallow. Stand like a normal person for a photo - Paris and her poses are so out anyway.
Sorry for the rant but I can't post this to FB bc I have too many saccharin "FB friends" that pose this way constantly.
Does this bug anyone else as much as me?

Wow. No. Basic and shallow? Because they stood a certain way for a picture? 10,000 selfies would maybe make me think that. But not the hand on the hip. I don't think I'm shallow and I pose for pictures like that fairly often. It seems like you just don't like these people and are criticizing them because of it.

Stand however you want for a picture. Whatever makes you feel confident or awkward or whatever you're going for. A selfie a day might be excessive and make you look like a college kid, but I see nothing wrong with standing with a hand on the hip. Frankly, I think I look much more awkward with both arms hanging down.

A different selfie everyday on instragram makes me scratch my head. A different selfie everyday with the DUCK LIPS I really don't understand! Their natural smiles are beautiful so I just don't get it. But whatever makes them happy. Hand on hip doesn't bother me.

What? Standing with your hand on your hip is deemed proper, not shallow.

Photographing yourself in a mirror and making silly/stupid faces is more along the lines of what you're describing.

Anyway how does this relate to May 2015 ?

To answer OP, no. It's their FB they can post anything they like to it. If I don't like what I see I hide the posts or delete the friend. This is how I save myself from becoming Judgy McJudgerson during election time. There are friends and family I truly like, that are total wack jobs I just keep them hidden away.

I always stand like that in pictures. It makes your arm skinnier and helps show where waist is.
I don't wear north face jackets or text on my phone while sipping a PSL. I am far from basic, thankyouverymuch.

Apologies if I offended anyone. I'm 29... And the girls I'm referring to are a few years younger than me. Didn't mean to be petty just something I notice ALL the time and it looks like the same pose with a different background. I think they're beautiful nonetheless.

Well I must be very shallow as I stand like this in almost EVERY single photo I take! I feel awkward just standing with my hands down plus with my hand on my hip, my arm doesn't look smushed and larger then it needs to be.

I don't think how someone stands in a photo says anything about them... I do think duck face or 1000 selfies with different expressions is childish.

@OnceInLoveWithAmy‌ since you won't wear a north face and text while drinking a PSL I will do it for you

I don't really hate the pose, and I do actually think it is a flattering one for most women. I do get tired of seeing the same damn thing from the same damn people though. Its like they could have just photoshopped the same pose into a myriad of different back grounds. But...not really something that troubles me.

On tumblr this is made fun of a lot. There is an over exaggeration of it done and it's mostly by young women. Hand on hip, back bent as far as 45° and leg slightly lifted and kicked back. Its referred to as the "chicken wing pose" "sorority girl pose" and "teapot pose". OP I think you are paying to much attention but apparently you are not the only one.

What does it make me with both hands on hips in my avatar? My bad...I had lost 50 pounds, in a dress 2 sizes smaller than I could even wear in middle school with my first REAL waistline. I worked hard to tone my arms, felt pretty fucking awesome in that dress and felt fancy in Las Vegas. Sorrynotsorry.

I know what you mean, OP, but it's mainly the person in the picture that just pisses me off so anything they do makes me annoyed haha. I understand it's flattering, but I have some friends on instagram that go crazy with it.

Unrelated: This made me think of my sisters new nickname for me. She was the first to find out I was pregnant, and her way of being funny/secretive was to call me spaghetti sauce around people who didn't know. Now everyone knows, and she still does it. Kind of an insider now. Sorry for the unrelated topic but it made me laugh lol ☺️
