Second Tri?

What are you considering/did you consider as crossing into the second trimester? I've seen 12 weeks, 13 weeks, and 14 weeks all on reputable sites. I know it's just a somewhat made up distinction, but i think it'd help my PGAL brain getting through the first tri.

Thanks!

  • I'm officially saying I'm in the second trimester once week 14 hits. I always heard it was week 12, but I'm just going off of what this app says.
  • The ones that base it on growth milestones put it at 14 weeks. Also, NT tech corrected me when I said I was second tri at 13.3.

  • Before I got pregnant I had always heard that 2nd tri starts at 12 weeks. Then when I got pregnant I was told 13 and then 14. I considered 12 weeks a huge milestone but I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief when I hit 14 weeks. I think you can consider yourself in 2nd tri whenever you want to though.

  • I'm 13 weeks today. My midwife didn't fully say that 12 weeks was when you cross over to second but implyed it. I feel probably by 14 weeks it will hit me more as I'm in the second trimester.
  • I am also of the mindset that 12 is a huge milestone, but I won't be considering myself in the 2nd tri (or announcing) until 14

  • I split the difference. 13 weeks. The point is a cow's opinion, though, bc I am 14 wks 1 day today, so I'm there no matter what.

  • Am I the only one who thinks it's funny to do the accurate version and say 13w, 3d? It doesn't make sense to me because the first two weeks we aren't even pregnant. I usually consider 12 weeks 2nd tri because that's what I always heard before I was pregnant. Except then 12 weeks comes and I still feel yucky, so I say it is 14 weeks. This is my 3rd time doing the exact same thing!

  • I felt relieved at 12 weeks... my book said 13 weeks for 2nd tri. I like the 13w 3days thing! I also think when you start feeling better, that was a good sign for me!
