Pregnant after IF

Pain and Pangs but not Cramps

edited October 2014 in Pregnant after IF
So, I think I'm about 6 weeks and having my first ultrasound this Thursday and I'm terrified. I've been having weird little pangs and some little pains. But they're not like period cramps and no spotting at all. I'm so scared. The nurse told me when that happens, I'm overdoing it and need to get off my feet and drink more water. Easier said than done at my job. I just wish I knew what was causing it. Anyone have this feeling ever?

Re: Pain and Pangs but not Cramps

  • I actually had round ligament pains very early, does it feel like you pulled a muscle? It could be that? There is a lot happening in your body right now, so I think little pains are not only normal they are expected! I'm sure all is well!

  • RLP can start super early for some. Drinks more water and change positions slowly. The worst was going from sitting to standing too fast and getting BAD shooting pains around the ovaries.

  • I think I've been getting some pains that could be RLP...but they could just be pregnancy cramps.  For me, it's more like twinges, which I've heard is normal and nothing to worry about much.

    Me 33, DH 37 -- TTC since Jan'12 -- Low AMH (0.78) & endo, SA w/ low motility
    IUI's 1-3 = BFN, IVF converted to IUI 4/13 = BFN
    IVF 1.2: 8R 6M 4F -- 2 blastocysts frozen, FET 8/15 = BFP!!
    Beta #s = 445;1,098; 9,545  -- EDD 5/2 -- Team Pink!
    Camila Josephine arrived 4/30 :)
  • Yes, twinges! That's what I called them initially but nobody understood what I meant. You ladies are the best.

  • There are sooooooo many weird abdominal sensations during all this! Especially if you factor in all the crazy digestive changes from the hormones. It seems to me that you pretty much have to roll with the wacky pangs and twinges unless it's serious pain. It's just your organs moving to make space for the baby!

  • 1st trimester literally hurts. No one tells you. All this pulling and cramping...it's very odd and unsettling after IF. 100% normal though :)
    TTC since June 2011

Me: 30, moderate endo, unexplained infertility
    IUI or IVF in December

  • I agree with previous posters!  It is 100 percent normal yet so scary at the same time.  I had RPL pain around 12 weeks (twins) and lightening crotch (cervical shooting pain) on and off from the very early on!  Talk to your doctor but they are going to tell you it is normal and that unless you are bleeding and having pain you shouldn't worry.
