HELP!! MENOPAUSE??

Omg- I went for routine hormone testing at my endocrinologist for my thyroid and various other hormones.

She called today to ask me to come in because my tests came back that I'm in menopause!!!!!

I'm 39. I still have periods every month. My period is 8 days late this month, but occasionally that happens to me. I took HPT it's negative.

WHAT IN THE FUCK?

Please pray that those tests are wrong, someone else's or that my dr is a moron!!!

My understanding is that the definition of menopause is the absence of a period for a year. Based on that, I don't think your tests could show that you are in menopause; however, your hormone levels could indicate perimenopause. I still would think it is early perimenopause if your cycles are regular. I think they start getting irregular for a while first (either shorter or longer), but I could be wrong about that.

Either way, I'm sorry you got unexpected news. I know that's a lot to wrap your head around, especially younger than you expected.

The doctor is shocked since it really doesn't make sense. She said the levels show full blown menopause.

I can't.

Talk about a ruined day.

Op, you could be experiencing early menopause. It runs in my family on my moms side but she wasn't post menopausal till well into her 50's. I'd go in and see what they say.

Sorry to add my experience but I am only 36 and my cycles are getting longer and longer. I also get occasional hot flashes. I'm gonna go in soon to get a blood test done and find out why my body is out of whack.

I hope your dr is in error and that it's not premature ovarian failure.
