Not a skin tag

I brought the skin tag thread up about 10 days ago, I had a growth that started off like a skin tag.  It would bleed a lot and grew rapidly.  I finally got into see my dermatologist yesterday and it is called a Pyogenic Granuloma. It is also known as a capillary hemangioma.  It is a growth of blood vessels, reddish in color, that tend to bleed a lot and is commonly develops in pregnant women (do not google what these look like). Mine was about 1 cm, but I know a lot of women have been getting skin tags, just be aware these are different (Do not panic or worry that all your skin tags will turn into this).  They are just as harmless as a skin tag, but still see your doctor about them.

Re: Not a skin tag

  • Yeah, it was in an office procedure.  It was quick, I was in and out office procedure.  They aren't painful but I was clueless and just kept assuming it was a skin tag, totally different and way larger in size.

  • I am glad you got to have it removed! That did not sound like fun.

Thanks for the info. I had never heard of this before.

The doctor actually said that in some cases, after pregnancy they also disappear like skin tags do, so it isn't always necessary to have them removed depending on size.

  • @MalMomma‌ I am sorry, I couldn't imagine dealing with it that long. I think since mine was on my upper back it was less of a concern for removal.
