Moms with more than one kid - looking forward to milestones

As much as I'm enjoying this LO (he is way more chill than my first was), as we approach 3 months I find myself really looking forward to certain milestones.  I think the #1 thing right now is being able to put the paci back in by himself.  My first could do this during the day pretty early on and then at night around 6.5 months.  The paci wakeups are starting which is probably why I'm looking forward to this so much.

I'm also looking forward to the sitting milestone.  #2 spends a lot of time in his bouncy seat or on his playmat right now while I deal with his brother or try to do 30 seconds of chores.  I can't wait until he can be plopped down in front of a basket of small toys.  LOL I think I will feel less guilty about ignoring him.

Anyone else?

  • I second all of this. And as bad of a mother as I may seem...I can't wait for the Nick Jr phase! So I can clean up (or pee) without rushing to a crying baby. Lol thank god for Nick Jr!

  • I'm looking forward to those things too, but I really like that DD stays put for now. Argh...life is going to get crazier when she's mobile.

  • I would like him to be able to entertain himself, at least for a little bit (like 5 minutes!), so I can do something else real quick without feeling guilty.  Right now if he's not being held he'll cry.

On the flip side, this is my last baby, so I'm trying to really treasure every age.

  • Definitely the sitting up and playing with toys !

  • Can't wait for sitting up! But also hope DS2 takes after his brother and isn't a crawler. (DS1 never crawled but was walking by 10 months ... Much slower mode of transport than those babies that can fly across a room on their hands and knees). It was awesome with DS1 having like 5 months of sitting but being basically immobile :)
  • I second putting the pacifier back in by themselves!! I also can't wait for him to be old enough to do sleep training. I love having the consistency of a schedule so I'm not a big fan of the newborn phase since everything is so unpredictable.
  • Oh I definitely agree with the sitting up and playing with toys!

  • I'm cherishing every moment as this is my last baby and it has been 7 years since I've had a baby to snuggle. However I am looking forward to hearing those first belly laughs!

  • I want laughter. I think we are close, I hear sighs and coos periodically.

I'm also looking forward to A interacting with her siblings, too.

I think we are close too.  He practically smiles with his whole body and will sometimes make a squealing sound while grinning at us that I think is really close to laughter.

And as the mother of an almost 4 year old, I don't want him to grow up too fast either.  One screaming at me in words is enough right now.  When I have to deal with another 3 year old I will look back fondly on *only* dealing with sleep deprivation right now.

  • I've already said to him on more than one occasion to use his words. Luckily his smile is so darn cute...forgot about those gummy smiles.

This time around most of his milestones I barely manage to notice the first time he does something new. I only catch on when he starts repeating the new skill regularly.
