brushing teeth

One of the boys is pretty close to his first tooth (and the other will be soon after I'd imagine) and I've been looking at toothbrushes. I tandem nurse before bedtime, and they nurse to sleep. Once they have teeth, how should I go about brushing before bed. Maybe this is one of the cons to nursing to sleep

Re: brushing teeth

  • I asked my dentist and she said to just rub their teeth with a cloth as part of the nighttime routine (she said once/day to set the habit)

Now my routine is brush my teeth, Brush her teeth, Shower (me then her), PJs, nurse, sleep. :) hth

  • I have a rubbery toothbrush for 'no teeth' that we use on LO as often as we remember (when LO is near that bathroom wrh us). We have a very small bristled brush that we will use when he has teeth, again, as often as we are near it. We aim to do it once a day at minimum. I've nursed all my babies to sleep until THEY stopped nursing to sleep. DS1 stopped NTS around 7 month, but didn't get teeth until almost 9 months. LO is still NTS and teeth are somewhat near.
  • Thanks for the input ladies. I guess I was worrying about not brushing before they go to bed. I'll check with my dentist at my appointment this month
