She is torn between the names Marley, Maria & Delilah

  • I agree with other pp that Delilah and Marley are eh. Maria would be my pick.

    What about Marian or Diana?
  • Delilah or Maria

  • Marley is awful. Nothing pretty about it. I would pick Maria. I like pp suggestion of Delia. What about Melia? I'm not sure if it's a legit spelling, but I went to school with a girl by that name.
  • Definitely Maria, so fresh and pretty!

  • I actually like Delilah. Could call her Lilah for short. So cute!
  • I am in the minority I guess.  I vote Marley.  I also like Delilah.
  • Maria is beautiful and underused, although I like Marie better.
Marley is all dog, and Delilah has the bad Biblical connotation. Maybe Lilah instead?
  • I like Delilah best I think.

  • I love Marley, it's what I named my parrot.  :)  Great pet name!  I do think it's funny people think it's a masculine name, I believe it means "Seaside meadow" or something like that which is extremely feminine to me.  TETO

I personally can't stand Maria.  It feels dated to me, not classic.  It was the name of a lot of the older moms of student's I worked with.  I've never met a child with that name or anyone under the age of 40.

So of the three Delilah is my favorite with Marley being second.  Maria if she comes out a 40 year old Croatian woman.

I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.

  • I don't think Marley is masculine at all but it was my dog's name (named way before the movie came out) so that's what I associate with it.

  • Maria and Delilah are both great. Maria feels so fresh for a little girl and I would lean towards that one. I would also have her consider Delia (Deal-yuh), which is sort of spitting the difference and getting a less trendy name than Delilah.

Agree with others, I have no idea how Marley made the cut next to these other names but it has to be nixed. All associations are weird - Rastafarian singer Bob Marley and the dog movie Marley and Me. I know a little girl named Marley and the name started popping up after the dog movie which I find really odd. As others said - it is a masculine surname and not at all suitable for a little girl no matter if it ends in "ley" :)

  • Marley and Me? No, please!
Maria is beautiful, Delilah is ok. Other suggestions: Mira, Maia, Marissa, Mara, Mariah, Lila, Lela
  • Delilah

Marley makes me thinking of 'Marley and Me'

  • I actually think Marley is cute. But it's hard to imagine a successful adult woman named Marley. Really don't like Delilah, but Delia, Lilah, or Lily are good options. Maria is boring to me.
  • Maria. Love it.

Delilah, don't have it, I wouldn't side-eye, but not nearly as good as Maria.

There is not other option. I'm just treating this as a list of two names.

  • Delilah's is a big strip club in this area, so I can't separate it from that.

    Just say no to Marley.
  • I don't get why everyone is saying Marley is terrible lol I think that's a beautiful name. One of my friends has a daughter named Marlena and everyone just calls her Marley. So that's my vote :)  The other 2 are too older sounding for me...
  • Maria is beautiful. I like Delilah. Marley is bad.

  • Maria by far
  • Delilah is my favorite of the group.  It was at the top of my list for my daughter but I ended up not being able to use it for family reasons.
  • I like all of them. Maria is more older sounding and I prefer it as a middle name. Delilah is nice and not overly common. I really like Marley, I have a little cousin named Marley, she's about 5 years old now and super cute!!
  • Delilah is DDs name so that gets my biased vote.

  • I know 2 little sisters named Marlee and Jaycee.  Hopefully they will forever remain toddlers.
  • I agree with the majority on Maria. It is going to look the best on a resume in 20 years or so.
  • Maria by far with Delilah a distant second. Marley is no good, sorry. Other suggestions:

    Marie
    Dahlia
    Marlene
    Miranda
    Gloria

    Delilah is ok

Marley falls into the not for a human category. I hear bob, dog, or trashy.
