Trouble TTC

Frustrated vent..opinions welcome : )

Hey everyone! I'd love to get your views on my last iui. So this was technically iui 5, but the first three were done prior to me having a laparoscopy in August to find and remove stage 2 endo. So I'm trying to tell myself that it's only our second try even though it's not. Anyway, my RE said that I should be able to conceive after the surgery, but of course, he didn't put a time frame on it. So we did two rounds of iui with injections. One in September and one in October which were both bfn. Both times everything looked promising and my husband has high numbers and good motility. However, after both cycles I've gotten my period way earlier than usual. Last month it was 2-3 days and this month 3-4. I started today and I'm only 11dpiui which I know isn't unheard of, but my cycles have always been very regular. (Every fourth fri or sat with around 14 days after O). Now they are all over the map. Has anyone else had this happen or know of others' experiences? I'm just frustrated because I feel like at least my cycles were consistent and now I don't even know what to expect. It just seems like the injections have messed with them. Any thoughts would be really helpful!

Re: Frustrated vent..opinions welcome : )

  • Thanks for the response : ) My LP wasn't sure prior to surgery and actually my first cycle after surgery was normal for me. My cycles have been out of wack after the injections. I thought my LP seemed short this time too, but I just spoke with the nurse who claimed that getting my period today was normal because it has been 13 days since my trigger. I was thinking it would come 13-14 days after ovulation. Anyway, I was put on progesterone in sept and then this month as well. Then, last Tuesday I had my bw done and they told me my progesterone was really high so I didn't need to be on them. Ugh. I know sometimes it just doesn't work, but I really thought this was it. Has your RE mentioned when to start treatments after your lap? Because now I'm wondering if I started them too soon.

  • This cycle the nurse said that they could test me for progesterone again but normally once you need the supplements you will probably need them.  She also mentioned my progesterone being higher because of the injectables and ovulating a higher amount of eggs.

My DR also said that after a lap if they do remove endo that you are basically starting over from square 1...which seems so frustrating to me.  My dr recommended doing some natural cycles after my lap in December as well.

    **EVERYONE WELCOME!! :)**

  • @lisa89760‌ thank you for the input : ) see I'm wondering why my RE never mentioned trying on our own for a little bit after my lap. I'm wondering if we jumped into the injectables too soon. And of course as soon as he gave the ok to do a cycle I jumped at it thinking that it would work.
  • Your nurse sounds misinformed, 13dp trigger still gives you a 10 day LP and that is the cutoff for a luteal phase defect. I would definitely ask about hormonal luteal phase support.

So sorry you have to go through so many IUIs, but I have always heard the same thing - the surgery took care of a very possible cause of the earlier failures, so according to stats you still have almost equal good chances for the first 3-4 IUIs after surgery.

  • Yes! Thank you! I thought the same thing about the nurse. My typical nurse is on vacation and this one just seemed so off. Thank you for the kind words. I'll try to keep positive!
