Poop stain help!

I know if I leave my workhorses or Blueberry Simplex AIOs in the sun to dry that they end up looking white and brand new. However, I live in Minnesota and sun is about to be a rare commodity so I'm wondering if you all have any other tips. I use Tide Original powder in the wash. Cold rinse, hot wash, double cold rinse.

I just don't want the stains to keep adding up and me to wind up with nasty looking diapers :-/

TIA!

  • The stains will fade over time even with just washing. Also it is never too late to sun them so you can get them all nice and white whenever the sun does come out.

  • Oh no!  Stained diapers don't absorb pee and poo as well.  All is lost!

J/K.  You can even sun them inside through a window.  Even on a cloudy day.  Or you can just wait.  It's not a big deal.

  • Yup, "built up" stains aren't any harder to get out than fresh ones. You can just wait until spring if you want.

  • Most of us have no idea how to get seriously stained diapers such as the ones posted in the nasty thread......even if I don't sun my diapers they still tend to come clean and stain free within a few uses/washes.

  • @ pipsqueak I don't understand how diapers get stained to begin with. My LO must have weak poop or something? Lol we've never needed to sun, it all washes out...even the NB stage. Weird.

  • It's been a while since I did cloth with my first, but we didn't sun unless they were really bad. Maybe once a month just to make them look newer. We did only prefolds and prowrap covers. This time, we won't have the luxury of sunning unless it's through the window. We'll be sunning on our trips to the parents or inlaws.

I am doing brown for the wicking layer of the pocket diapers. We'll see how that goes or if you can still see stains.
  • Perfect! Thanks all! I just want to keep them looking relatively nice for resale later. Good to know all is not lost.
