As if colic and sleep deprivation weren't enough (I also had post partum with DD around 4 months with her), my mom was just diagnosed with colon cancer. Unsure as to the extent until she has surgery. She doesn't want me sharing with the rest of the family until she meets with the doctor. My husband is out of town this weekend and all I can do is cry all day long. I wish with the good news of a new birth (my 10 week old) it could be a happy time altogether. I just had to share here because I feel alone with this sad news.
To top it off, she waited until she was older (65) to have her first colonoscopy against the advise of her previous doctors. Lesson to be learned for all... don't wait. (If I could have made all her medical decisions, I would... but we're all adults here and now the price is to be paid and I pray... and pray... and pray...
Re: Bad family news right before return to work
A child asked his father, "How were people born?" So his father said, "Adam and Eve made babies, then their babies became adults and made babies, and so on." The child then went to his mother, asked her the same question and she told him, "We were monkeys then we evolved to become like we are now." The child ran back to his father and said, "You lied to me!" His father replied, "No, your mom was talking about her side of the family."
