Clogged duct?

It's the weirdest thing. Sometimes while pumping today, and a few times over the weekend when LO seemed to be sucking harder than usual, I feel this pulling and slightly painful feeling on the right side of my breast. Not the breast directly but almost at my rib cage. Is that a clogged duct?

I've had clogged ducts before but they've been on the breast and i could feel like a knot that I had to work out. I don't feel any knot where i'm feeling the pain/pulling.

What do i do?

I tried pumping an extra time this morning to try and work it out but it didn't seem to help and plus my pump seems to be malfunctioning because when i crank it up, it just seems to make weirder sounds and not really suck any harder. (I'm calling Medela now about it).

Any tips?

I don't know if it's relevant, but LO seems to be teething bad but doesn't have any out yet. The last few days he has clamped down on me pretty hard making me think that a tooth had broken through because of how bad it hurt! Could he be doing something bad to the ducts when he clamps down?

TIA!

Re: Clogged duct?

  • Idk what that is, and maybe it's an early sign, but I don't think it's actually clogged unless you get the sore lump. You can try to massage that spot while you/pump nurse and hopefully t won't get worse?
