2nd Trimester

i hate food.

I cant eat. Like ever. Food isnt appealing. Wtf is wrong with this!? I force myself to eat. Anyone relating?

Re: i hate food.

  • Both of my previous pregnancies were like that, the whole time. Just eat something healthy(ish).

  • Me too. Occasionally I will find something that seems not revolting and eat it. I know its crazy but eating does help. I have wheat thins on my desk and eat two every 15 mins or so.
  • I was like this for the first 14 weeks or so, then it slowly got better. I never was sick or threw up, just no appetite. I kept a food journal and forced myself to get 1750 calories and 70g of protein a day, minimum. My fitness pal was a lifesaver. Focusing a lot on whole foods, not junk. It sucked, but it passed and now I eat normally. Eating gives you energy and keeps your metabolism at a healthy rate. I also exercise every day which seemed to help a lot with appetite and boost my mood.

Salt and vinegar chips really helped me with appetite. Just having like 10 or so before eating something else seemed to work pretty well on the worst days. I hope you get better soon!

  • I have days where nothing sounds good, but I'll eat something just to make sure I'm getting food. Typically I'll stick with things that were things I loved before pregnancy... usually after a few bites I remember how delicious it is.
  • I'm 14 weeks and since week 6 I've been this way. Lost 12 pounds but I force myself to eat. I eat lots of super cold fruits and raw watery veggies like cucumber and multicolored peppers with humus. Cereal works well with me and sandwiches. Panera's veggie sandwich is pretty yummy. I can't stand food and it sucks to deal with...I, on the other hand try to stay away from my before pregnancy favorites just bc I don't want to hate them forever. Hang in there.
  • Food adversion is very common in pregnancy. It's not something that people equate with it though! Everyone thinks because your pregnant you are going to immediately devour everything in sight.
How far along are you? I found around the 5 month mark I started getting hungry and actually wanting food vs. eating to just get some nutrition.
  • I guess everyone's different. I had barely any morning sickness (if I did feel sick it was at night) which stopped around 12 weeks. And I haven't had much trouble eating. But what the PP's said, food aversion is perfectly normal. But if your losing a lot of weight you should talk with your doctor because that is not good either.

Good luck, hopefully it will get better!

  • I am hungry all the time but feel like crap after eating. It takes zero to fill me up and always feel so full it hurts to sit. Frustrating
  • I am 16 weeks today. Ive gotten somewhat better. Sadly if i eat, im overly full. Lol cant win.
  • I'm 15 weeks, between nothing sounding good and my constant morning sickness, it's making eating the most difficult thing ever. I've been trying to eat every couple of hours just to help with the morning sickness, but I'm so sick of eating and trying to decide what to eat.
  • Food is hard for me to eat too! I always feel so full
  • me too :( I miss liking food....
