Unpaid Maternity Leave?

I work for a small company that does not provide any maternity leave (or meet the requirements for FMLA). Does anyone know if Maryland or Baltimore offers any assistance in this situation? I am starting to save but worry that it will be hard to make ends meet the first few months! Thanks for any help!

    I am not sure  - I am a SAHM now, but when I had DD1 in 2010, I was a FT teacher.  My HR office was useless, so I ended up calling the Dept. of Labor to get my questions answered.  I would think that you could use your sick/vacation time as a way to get paid for some of your time. GL!

    some small employers allow you to purchase short term disability insurance that would cover part of your salary during your maternity leave.
