Pregnant after a Loss

nbr ...kitchen reno at Thanksgiving?!?

So it's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and everyone is posting photos of food and pie and turkeys and more food and pumpkin recipes and talking gravy ... and all I want to do is eat and bake and bake and eat.

And this is what my stove looks like:

We are possibly the only idiots who would plan a kitchen reno around Thanksgiving.

Now, thankfully (pun intended) the reno is nearly done and the new kitchen should be installed by next weekend, but.., for the time being my stove is in the hallway covered in dust and sawdust.
Oh, and my fridge is in the dining room.

We are still making a dinner - my husband always barbecues the bird on the rotisserie anyway... which frees up the kitchen for me to bake pies and do all the other stuff. just not this year.

This year I'll be making gravy on the barbecue. Should be interesting.

*Cries* I just want my kitchen back. I'm pregnant and hungry. *Cries*

  • Thanks @Megdowntheshore‌ :)

We believe the whole process should be done in about a week from now. We have everything for the new kitchen in our garage just waiting to be installed. The contractor promises it should just be a few days of installation .. The floors were the worst part - we had hardwood installed, which needed to be sanded and stained - a major process cutting off half our house.
    Crazy times!

  • Good luck! Hopefully you are all finished by next week! We did a kitchen reno last winter, and while I love the finished product, I did not enjoy the process. We were about 6 weeks start to finish. You are brave I would not have taken that on during pregnancy…a girl needs to eat real food!

  • So many huge ((hugs)).  We rehabbed an entire condo while we were living in it (this was a terrible idea).  We also put hardwood in which meant the kitchen had to wait until the floors were finished.  While we were at it we knocked down walls, rehung the ceiling and rewired for way better lighting.  We went without a functioning kitchen for close to 5 months (we did most of the work ourselves, so we only worked on the house once we got home from our jobs - seriously, we were dumb).   So that sucked, bad.  BUT if you are ready to put the cabinets in you are almost there!!!!  And I swear, once I had my beautiful, functioning space it really didn't feel like it had been that bad.
Hang in there!!!  Please pip the finished space!
