LO lunch containers/bento boxes?

When LO moves up to the next room at daycare, he'll just be needing to bring his lunch (now we provide breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack).  I'm looking to transition away from the 6 little containers to something a bit more toddler friendly, as the kids are supposed to be becoming more independent and sorting out their own containers etc from their lunch bags.

What do you use?

@GraceinCA - did you say you used bento boxes?  I'm intrigued by the idea, and have waded through many amazon reviews without coming to a conclusion as to what seems to be the best option.

  • I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind but we used it on the plane and loved it. B likes carrying it around.

  • Yes, you remembered right. I use bentos for both kids. We have a few different stainless steel ones since I don't like to serve food in plastic, but if you have no issues with plastic, Sistema makes a really nice lunch cube that many of my son's classmates use. With both stainless and plastic, the most common ones come one of two ways: a single unit with multiple compartments, or separate components. I use both kinds, and don't really have a preference.

  • For my daughter, I've been using glass containers like these. Well, these exactly. I use Inch Bug labels (which are indestructible) so her stuff never gets mixed up with someone else's, or lost. Pardon the messy fridge.

  • Mobile isn't letting me edit. The reason I can't use the glass ones for my son's lunches is that his school has a no glass rule.
