Itching like crazy!

I am so itchy (legs, and arms and recently my chin) I end up even scratching in my sleep and now I have scratches all over me. Ugh! I look like I've been attacked by a furious cat! I don't have any rashes, bumps, hives or new allergies I'm near. It's not dry skin- I'm good about lotion! Anyone else crazy itchy?

Re: Itching like crazy!

  • Totes normal. Had it all through my last pregnancy and it has started again with this one. The worst is my legs for me. Once I start scratching, I can't stop! I have broken skin in the past.

  • I am sure none of you ladies have a liver condition but it is something to be aware of if the itching becomes severe. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/itching-obstetric-cholestasis-pregnant.aspx
  • Nothing but taking benydryl helps but I can't live off that! Cream doesn't help. As crappy as it is I'm glad I'm not crazy! Very weird!!!
  • Itching is normal. But if it seems like it just won't go away no matter what you do check this out: https://www.icpcare.org/images/ICPinfographic.pdf image

  • I found the low grade (.5%) hydrocortisone cream with lotion over it helped with itching.
  • I'm scratching as we speak. It's normal for me as the weather starts to cool. But this is like 10x worse. I love gold bond.
  • I mix aloe juice (2-4oz) & crushed cucumber (about half of a mid sized), into a spray bottle. Shake & spray, works for me & is also really good for burns, bug bites & sunburn.
  • Last time I was pregnant I developed eczema on my hands. It went away after I had my daughter but now I'm almost 13 weeks and it's starting to come back again. I'm constantly itching. It's miserable. I bought something called Rose Ointment from a friend that sells Young Living. That's the only thing that has helped me so far.

  • If you get a rash or hivelike things, it could be PUPPPS. Not at all dangerous, just debilitatingly itchy. I believe the doc can prescribe something.

  • @Swoon13‌ , scratching helped, lol! Other than that, lotion after showering? Mine was the worst when I got home from work at night, so I usually just scratched until I went to bed. Not the best advice, sorry!

  • I have been too!! My itching is under control now that I am putting on baby oil after I shower. I guess my skin was really dry and irritated.
  • I didn't know this was a thing! It's mostly when i am sitting still, like lounging in bed do i notice I'm itchy. Mostly my back, head, and thighs. Glad I'm not alone. ^^;
  • I would recommend having a bath with 6-7 drops of bio oil in it. I'm in Australia so il not sure if you have bio oil in the US but I think that rose hip oil might also work. I find that this makes my skin really silky. Sometime when I use moisturizer I just feel so sticky! Especially before bed, this eliminates dryness if like me you don't love to moisturize :)
  • Me too! It kicks in with the 2nd tri for me. It's awful :( With my last pregnancy, my doctor recommended a calming, medicated (really, it's mentholated) lotion. I've used both Aveeno and Gold's Medicated. It's not a cure, but it helps to cope with it.

  • I'm not itching all over per se, BUT my boobs ITCH, WHAT is that about?!? And it's not like you can itch it for relief....

I think it has something to do with the skin stretching and prepping for making milk. Mine have been super itchy too and my nipples. Also my armpits have been itching like crazy and I'm going insane because of it!
  • My stomach started itching really bad today! I greased myself up with coconut oil this morning but I still itch!
  • My legs have been itching since 8 weeks. Some days I literally look insane at work trying to scratch through my work pants! It comes and goes but when I am itchy it is unbearably bad.

@Swoon13‌ can you please send me a link to some accurate information on what makes bio-oil bad during pregnancy. I tried and got a bunch of people's opinions on sites like this and things about kim k, nothing legitimate. I stopped using it a while ago just as a precaution but would like to read something factual if possible.

My armpits have been driving me INSANE lately!! What is up with that!!

I have no idea but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I tried to not shave or wear deodorant in case it was an allergy thing (which is fine cause it's cold so I wasn't stinky!) but it didn't help! It's so irritating!
