Well wasn't having one, but ladies at H work was wanting to know, when, where and were they invited! Lol feel kinda awkward doing own. Well will have help of sister:) I was thinking just doing something small in afternoon. What would you serve at like 1:00 in afternoon for food and do you all still play games. The women are Hispanic and my H speaks Spanish I don't would it be weird if he was there? Never had shower with DS..confused...lol

Re: Baby shower...

  • Ok, just an idea.  It might not be a great one, but maybe.  A lot of the moms at my work are Hispanic and they do pot luck for afternoon showers.  I'm telling you, the food is amazing! If they are already interested in attending a shower for you, they might not mind bring pot luck food.  And it could be super fun!

As far as games, I probably wouldn't plan too much.  That's just me though.  I asked my cousin to only do a couple at my Wedding shower and we still had a great time.  I hate the games!

  • I went to a baby shower a few weeks ago that was scheduled for 2 pm - so around when you were thinking, but more clearly after lunch.  The mom-to-be was 34 and the guests included a lot of older relatives. They served drinks at the start with one appetizer, and had a buffet set up with finger foods (like lollipop chicken, crostini with beef) .  They served coffee with dessert (cupcakes).  They didn't have any games but passed around notes for guests to write advice on that you could pin on a decorated board.  And they had a diaper thing too but I didn't quite figure out what that was all about.  There was picture taking and favors (nail varnish).  There were a couple of kids there too, including a newborn baby.

I've been to others where they had games, but they tended to have a smaller guest list and a more cozy, casual feel (sandwiches, salads, and a big cake).

I find it quite weird how men are usually excluded from these events.  I suppose it's pretty hard for male guests to get excited about baby presents.  Maybe your H could stop by for a short time so people can congratulate him?  Especially since some of the guests are his co-workers?

    Hope this helps!
  • @NeonNoon‌ yeah did help! Gave me some ideas to draw from! Thanks!
