How do you organize all the paperwork?

I'm starting to get overwhelmed with all of the paperwork. How do you organize it? By month? By therapy? Right now I have EI paperwork, PT paperwork, OT paperwork, and Neurology paperwork.

Page protectors in 3 ring binders......that's how I have done my IEP/IFSP papers and EI papers so far.

In our area, some special needs advocacy groups will host medical binder seminars that teach you how to best organize your binder. Maybe something like that would be of help?

    Good luck!

I started with one 4" binder broken down into school - ST - OT - Psychologist - genetic condition.

Then, school started. So I got another 4" dedicated to just school. School is broken down into behavior charts, 504/IEP FORMS, misc handouts and tests, homework & classwork

All docs are in cronological order going from earliest to most recent, with the most recent being at the front of the section

Binder, for now it has School System and Private Therapy/School Sections.
So SS section has her IEPs, and end of semester reports in reverse chronological order newest to oldest
Private Has her VB-Mapp results and Interpretation, Annual Goals plan, and her official diagnosis paperwork.
For now that works for us.

I do binders divided by school year. I also do binders because they are easier to carry to evals and therapy appointments.

There are dividers for each thing that is done: District Rules and regulations, School rules, IEP, handouts, OT and PT evals (private), progress reports, daily reports. I have extra dividers for other things that may come up. I will have to get a bigger notebook if I have too many papers. I have a 1 inch binder for this year.

I use the system detailed in Wright's Law's Emotion to Advocacy. I write the date in pencil on the top of each page and file by date into a 3 ring binder. At the front of each binder is a master list that details every report paper ect by date type one short sentence summary
