NBR: bachelorette party

My sister is getting married next summer, and I'm her maid of honour. I'm starting to think about her bachelorette party and need some ideas! She's not into the whole penis straw/stripper/funny outfit style party. she lives in a major city though so lots of options! Any ideas? What did you do for your bachelorette party, or any great parties you've been to?

Re: NBR: bachelorette party

  • I'm similar to your sister... and I'm also a big fat introvert, so a big night of partying wasn't my thing.  For my bachelorette, they took me to dinner at a very nice restaurant on the waterfront, and then we went to a bar on the roof of the nicest hotel in the city with the best views you can find. The bar is very sophisticated and mellow- no loud music, no dancing, just super comfy seating in a gorgeous atmosphere, and crazy views of the city. Super laid back, but a very classy, relaxing evening. Then we randomly watched a 5K race that kicks off the month long festival in our city.  They do it at night with the streets all lit up and people dress in crazy costumes.  That was just an afterthought since it was on the same night and we were already downtown.  The planned part was just a really nice restaurant, a really nice bar, and some awesome city views.

  • That sounds nice @babybuns2, I think my sister would like a chill, classy night like that
  • For me a weekend getaway at the beach was perfect! I'm not in to the loud, gaudy parties either so a quiet weekend at the beach was perfect!

I like this. Her future in-laws have a lake cottage that she and her fiance go to quite often, maybe I'll see if she'd be into a weekend there
  • I'm not one to get crazy drunk and loud either. For mine we went for the night to a casino. We went to a nice dinner and then they had a comedy show going on (I cant remember the guy's name but he is pretty well known). No one wanted to gamble so after the show we went and sat in the hard rock cafe and drank and talked. After we we went back to the room and did some more drinking and talking. It was nice we got to stay in the casino so we didnt need to worry about a DD.
  • What about one of those painting classes where everyone paints the same picture? I can't think of what they are called right now...
  • I also am really not into the stripper scene but one of my favorite bachelorette party was to a pole dancing class.  It was all just friends and we took the train in to NYC to take the class and then went out to a nice dinner afterwards.  I also really enjoyed a weekend trip to Atlantic City - we got a hotel room and did a nice dinner and gambling afterwards.  We did drink a lot there but since we all stayed in the hotel we did not have to worry about driving anywhere.
