Baby Names

UGH. Tyler.

I have seen 2 people on TV and a friend of a friend on Facebook, ALL FEMALE between 20-30 years old named Tyler.

What?

Of all the male names on females, this one just REALLY gets under my skin.

Re: UGH. Tyler.

  • Nope nope nope. Love it for a boy though -- it was on the short list for DS.

  • That name should just be thrown out in general. Haha clearly it's a boy name but nothing about it seems masculine to me. It's the I with the L sound. When I hear that I just don't think it sounds acceptable for a man at all. It sounds perfectly feminine in names like Lyla, Kylie, etc.

So while I agree it's a stupid name for a girl, I don't think it's a "great" boy name taken by girls. It's a traditionally male name that sounds feminine so women took it. I say let whichever have it. It's a lame name. Just my opinion of course lol

  • I knew a smart, pretty, cool girl named Tyler and that might be why I really like it. I have a hard time disassociating names with people I know.

Like for a boy, my husband likes Grant, but all I can picture is that terrible kid from grade school.....
