Pregnant after a Loss

Progesterone suppositories (endometrin) question

Good morning everyone! I have a couple of questions about endometrin.

I have been taking it twice a day since September 21st. Since then I have been wearing a thin maxi pad .I know many people just use a pantyliner, but for some reason the discharge goes all over, it's not a lot of discharge but a pantyliner does not cover all parts of the panty that the discharge squirts out(maybe wrong wording here). Does anyone else have this issue? Now I feel like my vag is getting irritated from always having a pad on. I change the pad in two-three times a day, depending on how much discharge there is. I just want to air it out, but I don't want to ruin any clothes. I have discharge at different times of the day, so I can't really time it right to go free. (However, right not I am sans any bottoms right now, because I'm home. Sorry I had to share.) Does anyone have any advice to deal with this? I can't go bottoms free everyday.

Second question: Today I had a real hard time getting the applicator to go in. Like I said, I've been doing this since Sept 21 so it's not like I don't know the positions to use, but have any of you found a way to make it easier during dry times? I have had some troubles in the past, but it took me five tries today, which has never happened.

TYIA for any advice!

Re: Progesterone suppositories (endometrin) question

  • I feel your pain.  I just stopped taking endometrin earlier this week after being on it for 10 full weeks.  I found luck with thicker and longer pantyliners.  I actually found some thicker pantyliners that were made for thongs that worked really well (Can't remember the brand name though, sorry).  Sometimes I would also just wear a pad for the hour or two when I knew I would have the most discharge and then switch to a pantyliner after that.  As far as your second question goes---I've seen other ladies having the same problem with the application after extended use.  It seems like sometimes the cervix can get irritated and swollen which can make it harder to get the applicator in.  Hope this helps. Best of luck!

  • Thank you @jessw9! I have seen the pads for thongs, are they comfortable? I would love to be able to go back to my thongs.

Yea I think they are pretty comfortable. A heck of a lot more comfortable than pads.

  • I had the same issue with irritation from the insertion and liners. It got so bad that my poor vag was apparently (says the ob) covered in tiny cuts. I was almost 12w at that point do she told me to just stop using the progesterone immediately. As for the irritation she suggested a warm bath or compress to help with swelling and then to apply a thin layer of Vaseline (externally) a few times a day to act as a protective barrier of sorts and hopefully promote healing. Of course, any time I could just let it air out, that was good too. I felt much better in a day or so and completely fine after about 2 weeks.

Sorry you are dealing with this!

  • Thank you ladies.
@jessw9‌ I will check out those thong pads.
@E&B0811and @Grailseeker14 I'm glad I'm not alone. I guess I will try to air out while I'm sleeping, maybe laying inn a towel. I know it's easier to insert the applicator after I get out of the shower, I will try the warm compress that might work. I appreciate you sharing your experiences. Idk how long I'll be on the progesterone, but if it helps me have my rainbow I will deal.
  • I used to use an extra long panty liner or the thong liners from Always. The thong ones are really soft and are a little more quilted than some other liners.

  • Honestly right when I came home from work, everything from the hips down came off and id sit on a towl or something. Lol. I even had to call my dr because I thought I was having an allergic reaction to it or something. I always get my husband to insert it for me. It's almost like he can get it in at a better angle than I can so it's less painful.
  • @KJsbabe‌ I'm glad that the thong pads are recommended because I've almost bought them many times and put them back thinking they couldn't be comfortable.

@cwilly469‌ Last night I slept bottomless on a towel. I feel so much better now. MH will give be injections but I really don't think he'd insert the suppositories for me. Just seeing the box when I got the prescription grossed him out. I wish he would it would be probably be faster.

Thank you ladies for your advice!
