Isabel or Isabelle?

Isabel or Isabelle? And what do you think is more common?

(And I live in Canada where Spanish isn't spoken as much as in the States).

Re: Isabel or Isabelle?

  • Isabelle. Personally I think Isabelle is more common although I have no references to back myself up.

  • Isabel, I think it is more classic and sounds feminine without looking too frilly.
  • I like Isabel. Which is close to what we might name our daughter, Isadora.

    Isa or Izzy for short!

  • @jennjilljoite‌ Isadore is baby's dad's grandfather's name. I love the name too!
  • My daughters middle name is Isabel, we went with that spelling because it was her great-grandmothers name. I was going to go with Isabelle, because it's more of a european way of spelling it but my MIL shot it down cause it wasn't how her mother spelled it.
  • I Iike the looks of Isabelle better. My DD is Isabella and we call her Izzy. That's probably why I like Isabelle versus Isabel.
  • We are going with Lily. Lol. I finally convinced my husband. I know it ms popular but I just love it so much!!!!!!!

  • I like Isabel because that's how my grandma's name is spelled :)
  • I prefer Isabel. I'm weird and prefer the less "girly" spelling for names like this (Annabel as another example).

  • I prefer Isabel, but that is because I have roots to Spain and that is the traditional spelling there. I was considering this name if I had a girl.

I also think Isabelle is beautiful, and it is still traditional - just the French version! I would think that Isabelle would be more common in Canada, but I live in the states... so what do I know?! haha

I had a whole paragraph typed - and then I saw that you decided on Lily. LOL! Lily is beautiful.

  • My daughter is Isabel, so obviously I prefer this spelling. It is traditional especially for Spanish countries as my husband is from Costa Rica.  That doesn't mean you need to be Latino to use this spelling. I think it is pretty and unique :)
