just wondering your experience with your insurance provider and if they provided a breast pump to you. If so, which pump did you end up with? Did you get to choose? How long did it take for you to receive it?
My experience was that I could never get ahold of a rep who knew anything about it at my insurance. So I went to the medela website. They have a tool where you can put what insurance you have/state or region, and the. It pulls up a list of companies contracted with your specific insurance. I then picked Aeroflow from that list (recommended to me by my BMB) and filled out the form on their site. It's a short form that asks your name/address, insurance info, and doctors name & number. They did all the work for me to confirm with insurance and get a prescription from the doctor. They called Monday, shipped it and I received it Thursday. I contacted them last Thursday initially so the process took 5 business days total.
My insurance covered 100% the medela pump in style starter kit.
Yep - the durable medical supply companies really would like to give you a pump and charge your insurance for it! I got a list from my insurance company (one of the options under the providers page was medical equipment), picked a company that sold the pump I wanted, and filled out a 2 second form on their website. They contacted my insurance company and few weeks later my pump arrived in the mail.
It should be noted - I went with the Medela PISA. They had all of the options available (messenger bag, backpack, etc), but only the basic model was free, everything else was an upcharge - a pretty steep one. So for way less money I picked out a nice bag to put the pump in when I need to travel with it, and came out way ahead
