Itchy all over, UGH!

Sorry for one post on top of another. I need to ask this though.

From the neck down I have been extremely itchy. I can't fall asleep at night because I am so busy scratching. Is anyone else having this problem?
What helps?!

  • Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap!

When I had PUPPP last pregnancy, that was the only thing that stopped the itching.

  • It could be puppp. I've heard great things about the soap mentioned above. My sil had it and used noxzema to help also.

  • This happened to me for a few days in a row awhile back. When I called my OB they had me take a Claritin to see if it stopped. It went away so mine was an allergic reaction to something. I think I all of a sudden was allergic to my scented laundry detergent. Switched to my DD unsented sensitive kind and haven't had the itch feeling since. Could you be allergic to something all of a sudden due to hormones?
  • As a daily hive sufferer, I feel your pain. Are there red welts or bumps? Or just itchy skin? Maybe more water and moisturizer would help if it's not hives or pupps.

I've got hives, pregnancy eczema and just plain itchy skin.  I feel your pain.

That being said, there is some weird liver thing that can cause itching, so be careful just dismissing this as itchy skin.

I am using burts bees belly butter over most of my body at this point. I have an Rx for the eczema, and my doc said a bit of benadryl cream is okay.

  • It helped me to stay cool during my first pregnancy.

I will try a little Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

I know, I read about this and it freaked me out!! I don't have any hives or rash of any kind either so I will ask my doctor for sure the next time I go in.

  • My OB had me take a Claritin because if it went away it ruled out something more serious like PUPP. Fortunately for me within 20 min of taking it I felt so much better. It's worth a shot.
