Wine Help!

It is looking like CD1 tomorrow, so I
I need some suggestions! I have never really had any wine before and I want to try some. I like fruity, sweet alcohol if that helps.

As a bonus, what is your favorite wine?

  • Loading the player...
  • Moscato is sooo good. But I also like anything that's labeled as a sweet red wine.
  • Pink moscato, Asti, White Zinfandel...... Delicious!!

  • Moscato is extremely sweet, I personally don't like but a lot of new wine drinkers love it! If you want a white that is semi-sweet try a Pinot Grigio. Or Riesling.

  •

I would say a moscato/Riesling as well. Maybe try Barefoot or Yellow Tail.. They are cheaper and pretty popular. If you want go with reds I would suggest anything labeled "sweet red" or a sangria as others have mentioned.

I am definitely a Pinot Noir girl - can't get enough of it! Love red blends as well.

  • Riesling!!

Or Allegro Moscato... that stuff is the bomb. (who says that anymore????)

  • I've gotten big into wine since DD. Recent faves anything dry. Love a good Malbec. Currently drinking Pinot Grigio. My mom likes hers sweet. She sticks with a Riesling or Moscoto.

Well, I don't really do sweet wine, so I probably won't be much help. If I'm in the mood for something lighter, I'll go with a grassy sauv blanc or a Viognier.

I'm really here for the bonus question. I love a good, bold red. Anything from Alma Rosa or Palumbo will rank very high on my list of favorites.

Eta- as a CD3, the last two nights I have been drinking all the wine, but tonight I moved onto beer. Next up: Punk in Drublic from Coronado Brewing Co.
  • I'm not drinking right now (starting to question my logic), but I normally love Riesling,Gewürztraminer, or Pinot Grigio for sweeter whites.

  • Where do you live? I would suggest looking into a wine trail tour if there are any in your area. That will allow you to taste first... and taste ALL the wine!

  • Pink Bubbles - yellowtail .. You'll feel fancy drinking it and it's quite sweet/mild.
  • My current favorite sweet:

I love all of his wines! Charles Smith or something? I like that his labels are so recognizable so I never have to remember his name...

  • I agree with PPs. Sweet wine can be so refreshing. I love a super cold moscato. Yum.

Waaat? Isn't a love of wine a requirement for someone to go here?

AFM, this is always in my fridge .. and I mean always:

Since we clearly need to get you with the program, I'd suggest starting off with Riesling. Won't get you intoxicated as quickly as my trusted Franzia, but once you find a wine you like we can start upping the % of alcohol to achieve the desired result.

  • I would second the Moscato and Labrusco ideas.  If you're looking for something available at the grocery store, Barefoot and Yellow Tail are my go-to brands.  The Reunite Lambrusco is good.  Anything sweet like all of these is best served very cold!

I rarely have the same wine twice because we do local wineries and wine trips a lot.  But, one that I have found that I love is Snoqualmie Riesling.  I also love Zinfandel (red, not white, sometimes people get confused) and my pick is 7 Deadly Zins or Ravenswood.

  • I can't believe I forgot... Chocolate Rouge. Dark not milk. It's chocolate and wine in one!

  • Hope you found something delicious to try.

I did! I bought some Barefoot Moscato. It was awesome! I went for something cheap in case I didn't like it. I will be buying more for sure!
