Formula moms who introduced food

How much formula have you cut out? We started out drinking a total of 24 ounces a day and now we're down to 18 ounces a day with food twice. does this sound about right?

I feed DD in this order:
1oz formula and mix cereal in, 4oz bottle
    5oz bottle
    2oz veggies and 4oz bottle
    5oz bottle
1oz formula and mix cereal in, 4oz bottle
    5oz bottle

I do this every 2-3 hours... whenever lo lets me know she is hungry.

Thanks for posting! I'm curious as well - starting cereal this weekend. Pedi says to continue giving bottles as normal.

Ours said that, but  that your baby will take drink since they ate food. So the total "less" she's drinking is 6oz, at this point. In the beginning when she was figuring it out, she mostly drank the same amount because she wasn't getting much food actually in her stomach. More ON her stomach, face, hands, etc haha

@talkthewholetime‌ thanks! I guess as he takes more food in the bottles will get less and less. Right now we're at 27 - 30 oz a day - looking forward to watching him try to eat!

We went cold turkey. I just give him a steak or turkey leg to gnaw on during the day and then we wash it down with some jack at night.
ARE YOU CRAZY? You're giving him COLD turkey? God, at least microwave it first.
DAMN! Rookie mistake. I'll hit it with a blow torch real quick next time. Nice and toasty.

Quick follow up - gave DS cereal this morning with a spoon and the look of confusion on his face was priceless! Question though - I followed the instruction with 1 tbsp to 4 tbsp of formula - is it really suppose to be that runny? It looked like he might as well just drink it.

Yes, I think it needs to be runny so they can learn solids. After they are a bit older it can be thicker.

I've heard that it's supposed to be runny before too, but my dr just told me to start out a little thicker so that it sticks and is easier for him to keep in and swallow.

Yeah that's about right. DS was drinking 27-30 a day and now he's on solids 2 times a day so he's at about 24 oz.

No... Then I would have to worry about him choking on it.

I go with the "food before 1 is just for fun" approach.  Solids shouldn't really impact milk/formula intake right away.

Pic for fun.  Not sure how much (if any) made it into his mouth.  We're trying BLW this time.
