How does my not yet bought stash look?

Hi--before I go out on a limb--I want to get some opinions on my "stash" that I want to buy. Do you think this is enough? (We are not going to cloth diaper newborn--as we got a TON of diapers for some odd reason at showers) we will start using cloth when baby is big enough. (I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant, due Nov 14)

Best Bottoms Snaps:
Green Giraffe
Moolicious
Tye dye
Hoot
Very cheery
Cookies and cream
Inserts???: 12 hemp and 12 microfiber
Which size though?

4 Thirsties duo all in one :
Hoot
Ocean blue
Black bird
Meadow

6 Charlie Banana Pockets (we were already gifted these)

    As much as I found the snap in inserts easy and convenient last year, I am finding pad folded flats to be just as easy to use and much easier to wash and as a bonus they are one size so no worries about sizing. Second bonus is that I can wrap the flats and pin them on to help contain messes when ds is having tummy troubles or to give air time.

    Personally, I wouldn't get all Best Bottom covers. 

    I'd get at least 2 different style covers.  Maybe try a Flip, Blueberry Capri, Thirsties, or Sweet Pea.

    I'm no help on sizes for inserts, I've always used flats or prefolds in my covers.

    I am a huge Best Bottom fan.  That being said, I don't know if you should buy that many if you have not tried them.  Everyone finds their favorites which are not always the same.  Maybe since you are planning on using disposables you could buy only a couple of the diapers you have listed (BBs and Thirsties) and add in a few other brands.  You have the time...why not try before you buy a full stash?

    And the BB's will fit rather quickly.  I think at 4 weeks I could fit my tiny hipped son into those on the smallest setting.  

    But again, I would strongly caution buying that many right away.  That and you don't need to prep covers, so you can quickly order and wash them once if you want more.

    How much is "a ton" of disposables? Newborns go through 10-15 diapers a day. Your babe probably won't fit in OS diapers until close to 4-6 weeks. So 15 diapers x 30 days = 450 diapers needed, best case scenario. Just something to think about.

    That being said, I would probably get a couple more covers to try as well. I love BB, but every baby is different and you may find they don't fit your kid well. Try some Thirsties duo wraps or flips. They are well liked as well.

    And I agree about trying a couple flats for versatility. Even flour sack towels from Wal-Mart are a good option to try then on the cheap (5 for $5).

    As for the BB inserts, the MF ones are much bigger than the hemp. My 4 month old can wear a large hemp, but the large stay dry is way too big. I could probably get away with small or medium hemp for a trimmer fit, but the large works for both my 4 month old and 2 yr old, so I'm sticking with those.

    Do you have to buy them all at once? I know it's fun (and addicting!) but if you've got disposables to get you started, I would suggest getting two Best Bottoms and trying out (as previously suggested) a Thirsties Duo Wrap (Size 2), a Flip, and/or a Blueberry Coverall. This is for several reasons. Although I LOVE the Best Bottoms system in theory, I have a giant kid and a heavy wetter. Best Bottoms fit more toward the small size so I don't see these lasting until PLing. They definitely don't work as an ON solution. Also, even with a large hemp insert he can pee through that pretty quickly, and when he was in that heavy wetting stage from about 6-12 months they didn't last for anything. So, we could use the cover with prefolds which are more absorbent, but not the inserts.

    My suggestion would be to try a few different brands of covers and get a few prefolds or flats to have on hand too. You won't regret it, promise!

    Regarding the Thirsties AIOs, I had a heavy wetter and those diapers were pretty much useless for us.

    Just remember a lot of babies out grow newborn disposables in 2-3 weeks. I hope you have some size 1's

    So much I don't know and not prepared for--I'm just afraid of spending so much money on cloth newborns, I can justify cloth after newborn stage. I know the resale value is great-- but I'm afraid of the what ifs--what if I hate them, what if I have a c section and can't do laundry going up and down stairs, (my husband will but it will be a struggle..;) )

    The BB will fit early on. You can always order a couple cover (3-4), a few inserts, prefolds or flats to try.

    And just remember that you need patients. If it doesn't fit this week, try it next week. Babies grow very quickly the first few months.

    I had a c-section and did just fine doing the laundry after the first week home. It's only 8ish stairs, but it wasn't really a problem for me either. 

    Flats are awesome. I'd try some of those for sure.

    I'm lazy, I really don't want to do flats--and neither would my husband--fitteds with covers would be more our newborn style...

    Although looking at KC-the most economical fitted is kissaluvs? This is a stupid question--ok, with a prefolds, would you have to fold it up like a diaper or just stuff into a cover?

    Oooh--GMD newborn fitteds are cheap! Do they last long? Or are they "cheap" and fall apart? Which covers would you get for newborns? How many fitteds for newborn and how many covers to wash EOD?
