Week 21- boring stuff: my fingers are numb when i wake up & my gums are bleeding like CRAZYYYYY when i floss- both normal per Dr
fun stuff:  We found out last week that we are having a BOY! and we started registering Saturday.  Almost done except for  a monitor and an umbrella stroller (with good tires)- suggestions welcome.

QOTW: We are still working on the nursery and I have a long list of things "to do" including: clean up our basement to utilize as a 2nd playroom, looking into making wills & increasing life insurances, tour the hospital & take hypnobabies classes, take the dogs to the vet, couponing for necessities- shampoo/ frozen foods/ paper goods/ diapers, making & freezing dinners for post- delivery, maternity pix & scheduling newborn pix, packing the hospital bag, installing the car seat, getting our house deep cleaned (professionally)

Ya'll. October 28th is SO SOON!  ( @firstcomeslove2013 could you change the date again? Somehow it defaulted to our old due date!)

Callie is already estimated at 6 lbs 12 oz...as of last week. The doctors say it's probable that I will have her before the due date- And I'm ok with that. I'm so anxious to meet her! I know, of course, that there are no sure things and that she will come when she is ready.

Only a few contractions here and there so far- so I'm not expecting any big news at my appointment tomorrow. Last week I declined to be checked- why go through all of that just to find out that nothing is happening yet? But now I think I might want to find out if anything is happening down there this week.

She's started dropping and her kicks and jabs are definitely more rolls and lumps now that she has less room.

Work is making me nuts- I think emotionally I'm just done being here. When I'm home folding baby clothes, cleaning, and putting finishing touches on the nursery I'm so HAPPY. I have a pathological need to clean right now. I guess nesting is a real thing?

This feels like waiting for Christmas....when you're six......and nothing will be right with the world until you get to dig in under that tree.

QOTW: We didn't take birthing classes. I wish we had, now. SO many friends told us it was a waste of time- but maybe they just took the wrong classes? I wonder if it would be easier to "trust my body" had I been to these classes.

  • 21w+2d and feet have started to swell. Both babies are breech and are kicking S in the bladder soooo that's fun. In good news, I DEF. Felt one kick me yesterday! I "thought" I felt it before, but last night there was NO denying! So that was exciting.

We go to Duke today at 2:00 for our growth scan. Should be fun.

Qotw: I'm so glad that we waited to have babies until we were in a financially stable place. I can't imagine doing all this a few years ago. Also happy we've got so much done around the house. :)

I wish, we would have already spoken to a lawyer about drafting wills and other important papers. Need to do that and call a roofer before these babies get here!

    10 medicated IUI's (3 with injectables).
IUI #1 (medicated) Jan. 2013-BFP!!!!- Beta's didn't double, MTX shot for possible ectopic.
    8 IUI's between April 13-April 14 = BFN
IUI #10 and final before IVF, injectables May 2014- BFP!!!!  TWINS!!!!

7 week ultrasound showed 2 wonderful heartbeats!
8 weeks to the ER with vaginal bleeding while on vacations!  Diagnosed SubChorionic Hemorrhage.  Babies are both great.
9 week ultrasound showed both babies are still great.
  • 19w and trucking along.  Exciting news I have officially passed my loss date! I am the most pregnant I have ever been!! It is weird that I have held a baby in my arms that was 18w so I know how big this little one is inside of me and how inaccurate comparing babies to fruit sizes is.  My lest cervical check I was still measuring over 3cm and MFM said I had a beautiful cervix!  My next cervical check is next Wednesday along with my A/S.  I am excited to find out the sex of this little one so I can start (well so R can start) on the nursery.

QOTW:  I am glad we moved into a bigger house.  Our old house that we sold last March wouldn't have comfortable fit a toddler so it is nice having that out of the way.  Although I feel like we have SOOO much to do.  Haven't really started the baby room, need to clean but R has been working long days (5am to 9pm) and comes home and wants to sleep so the house is slowly getting more messy rather then working towards the other direction.  I may see if I can convince her of us hiring someone to come deep clean the house closer to our due date.

"Things separate from their stories have no meaning. They are only shapes. Of a certain size and color. A certain weight. When their meaning has become lost to us they no longer have even a name. The story on the other hand can never be lost from its place in the world for it is that place.” ― Cormac McCarthy, The Crossing

  • Oh lord... This week has been one for the books. I am just exhausted.... And maybe the grumpiest I have ever been! After a long week of work, we closed on our house on Friday, went to a wedding 2 hours away on Saturday, came back and spent the day painting on Sunday, and today we have the cable installation person here, a couch delivery, a midwife appointment, and I fit in a full day of work.
Tomorrow the movers are coming... And then Wednesday my parents are coming to help and Friday A's parents are coming to help for the weekend. If I make it to Friday without a full melt down, we will call it a success!
I was so grumpy I EMBARASSED myself at our midwife appointment. Being short with people is really not in my nature and now I am really upset with myself... And she commented about how grumpy I was. Oh man... I gotta snap out of it!
    Wow... Rant over. Sorry guys!
As far as the baby is concerned, I am growing, but not too achey. I am still sleeping pretty well and I want to consume all the cupcakes in the whole world!

QOTD: I am glad we bought a house before baby! We wouldn't have done it otherwise... I wish we had travelled more... But we also want to share the beauty of the world with our baby, so I am excited to do that too!

  • 36w4d (it's after midnight ;) ) - It's starting to get real, and scary.  On Friday I'll be considered full term, whaaaat?  We have done almost nothing to prepare.  No car seat installation, haven't washed the newborn/small diapers, or the clothes ... though my lovely wife did go through and get the sizes sorted out.  We also need more hangers since we will have twice as many clothes soon!  Yikes.  I finally made a to do list, now to do them.  I did go in to the hospital just over a week ago after calling the on-call doctor (at the urging of some ladies in a facebook mom group) because I felt faint with a headache, and got a bloody nose (very rare for me).  They checked for HELLP and pre-eclampsia, both were negative.  Baby was kicking away at the monitor the whole time.

I have a feeling I will be late, so if this baby comes early or on time, I don't know what I will do.  Especially if it's a girl/  We don't even have a girl name picked!  Can you tell I'm starting to panic?  Haha.  I totally agree with @pauljl about it feeling like waiting for Christmas, though!

QotW: I sort of posted all about how we aren't ready yet.  =)

  • We've made it to 27 weeks and we're into magic week 28(!) and viability. I've started to relax a little more. I know that this is the point where trepidation over labour may start setting in - and somewhere in the back of my mind, I'm dimly aware that I should be thinking about it - but for the moment, I'm just so happy we've made viability.  Now that we've hit this milestone, we'd like to ask to be added to the roster for check-in.  Our baby girl is due January 3.

Our last appointment with the midwife went well. We got to listen to Santana's heartbeat again - between kicks and thumps, that is (That girl just does not like being disturbed!)  and we confirmed that I won't have to take the glucose test.  In the UK, they don't usually test women with PCO due to the likelihood of false positives.  They will just monitor at visits.

QOTW: Probably getting in a visit to A's parents in Peru.  They are a lovely family but because it is a more conservative culture, it was still pretty awkward being introduced as the girlfriend.  They had a little difficulty getting their heads around the idea of their girl being in a relationship with another woman (although they all tried to make me feel included, despite my pitiful grasp of Spanish and their lack of English, bless them!) it would have been a little more awkward if we'd had baby in tow on that first visit.

  • @mrs&mrsk not sure if we're hearing common colloquial terms or if this was the vocab used by a select few but in this context, we used viable as a reference to the fact that baby is ready to face the outside world with a high chance of survival (@ 28 weeks, it's between 80 and 95 % depending on a number of factors)
