Oh I'll start this off right because there is a debate on another board I am on about taking kids to the doctor. I know I will get flamed as hell for this opinion in that thread (absolutely no one is on the side of dad, who would prefer to wait a day or two to take the kids to the doctor), but I'll take my chances over here.
I think we all go to the doctor for dumb shit way too much, and people with kids are the worst. If you, or your kid, has a stuffy nose or a cough, you don't need to go to the doctor, you need fluids and rest and to stay at home.
Kid have a fever? Yes. You been coughing for 4 weeks? Yes. Your kid gets the sniffles and a low grade fever has to miss a day of daycare? Maybe wait a day or two to see if it goes away before dragging him to the doctor.
I generally agree with that. But ultimately, you need to trust your gut and make the call. I've been the parent that "waited it out" and ended up in the ER with a 6 month old with pneumonia. That was after only 36 hours of the sniffles and no other real symptoms. That experience has made me a little more of a nervous nelly when it comes to illness. Esp when they're so little and things tend to go downhill quickly.
All that said, people tend for forget that doctors offices are full of SICK PEOPLE. We stay away when we can.
@McSarah1104 I agree. I prefer to NOT bring my kids to the doctor unless it's a necessity. I don't want to bring them around a bunch of other sick kids to catch who knows what. Even for a fever. If Motrin is helping I wait it out. The thing that usually brings us in is when they start poking at their ears, because ear infections suck!
I get so annoyed with people that think everyone finds their child as amusing as they do. No, it's not so cute that your child jumps on my couch and drags all the toys out of my son's room. Then there's the guilt trip..."Sophia was so excited for you to come over so she could show you her dance moves". I didn't come over here to feign interest in your daughter's brattyness for an hour.
I get irritated when people complain, "My FB feed is full of puppies and kids."
I'm sorry. FB has settings so you can change what you see. If the majority of your friends are 20-40, you're probably going to see kids, dogs, pumpkin patches, birthday parties, pregnancy announcements, engagement announcements, etc. Get over it.
I post pictures of my kids, and updates on how they are doing for my family and people who want to know and because it's more interesting than a status about how I just watched Scandal and stuffed my face with apples and nutella.

So, yeah, I'm bad for thinking everything my kid does is highlarious but I HATE IT when people don't make their kids behave when they are at my house or I am at their house. Or even try.
DH's sisters - he has three - all have kids. for a total of 7. When we had DDs birthday party they were literally running on our couch and chair, jumping over the back of the furniture, turned on the tv so loud you couldn't think, and then moved into the basement where they were harassing my dog (who they then wanted to lock in the bathroom because he was jumping on them) and we have a bathroom for guests and then our own bath which is down a closed off hallway with our bedrooms...THEY WOULD NOT STAY AWAY FROM THAT HALLWAY OR BATHROOM. I'm like, seriously, if you are told that part of the house is off limits (even for adults) why wouldn't you stop your kids from going in there? What if I had a red room of pain or something back there and now your kid is scarred for life???
They also have no respect for vehicles which drives me nuts. They are constantly playing around the cars and climbing in and out of them at family functions (read: scratching and dirtying). I was raised by a mechanic so I have a LOT of respect for cars and the amount of money that they cost and taught not to touch them EVER lol.
@Schnurette Do you ever scold them? I never know if it's ok to discipline another person's child. I've been told if it's your house, it's your rules and you can enforce them. It feels awkward and I haven't done it yet.
When people allow their children to act unruly in my home I definatley say something to the parents. Luckily my friends don't let that shit fly with their kids but my one SIL has no parenting skills. I have zero patience for it. With her I just directly discipline the children cause nobody else will.
FFFC: My work is very much feast or famine, sometimes I am swamped, and sometimes, I have nothing to do. Today is one of those nothing to do days, and all I want to do is go home and take a nap, I have no motivation to do anything else.
I love my 1year old more than I love my Dh...now that I think about it maybe it's a different type of love. Either way my bond is way more intense between me and my LO.
My confession is that I am on the bump at work. I am a preschool teacher and we are not to be on our phones at all during the day due to liability issues...but it's rest time. My class is asleep, it's dark, there is soft music in the background, and ZzZzZzZz...oh yea I am pregnant!!!!! I have to have something to do to keep me awake!

This is so me this week! I've asked other people for work and come up empty handed. Normally I would do some research or organize or make up a project, but this week my fatigue and moodiness has me completely unmotivated. I'm not normally a slacker, so it makes me feel terrible. And I'm so fired, if anyone happens to pull my web browsing record.

I, stupidly, took one of those weeks estimators 2 days ago. Got a 3+. Awesome.
Yesterday my symptoms were almost gone so I took another. 2-3. Spent last night crying because I was sure it was over.
Today I took another - 3+. I have no idea what to think.
I took one of those, too, and got 1-2 weeks, and I'm 6 weeks today. So don't take too much stock into it. I had a lot LOT lot of water and it dilluted my HCG, plus it was night time urine. Anyway. Wait for your appointment. Take what the doctor says as accurate, and don't worry about the week indicator!!

That is the last time I buy one of those hateful things. I have read on other boards where they gave people a good freak out because of going up and down.

I almost forgot I was pregnant today. Two years of TTC. Thousands of dollars for treatment and I almost. forgot. I'm pregnant. I took my niece out to lunch to celebrate her 21st birthday and ordered a margarita for me too. I got half way through the drink order and then blurted out "oh shit, I can't drink right now!" (Yeah, I almost outed myself too.) Who the hell forgets they are pregnant?!!? WTMF?!
Me. Every day. I've gone for the wine in the fridge at least 6 times. I also usually remember about halfway through each meal and have a quick little panic about whether or not I should be eating what I'm eating.

No I would be so uncomfortable. The most I did during LOs birthday was ask them to stop juming on the couches (to which one nephew replied really condecendingly "why?") and when I saw them goig down the hall to our rooms I would ask them what they needed and to please shut the door to the hallway. It didn't help much and sort of ruined DDs bday because I was so overnwhelmed and DD was just shell shocked by how they were acting.
