Girl name...sound funny?

so we really like Lilianna for a girl name. From my research we are going to spell it with two n'a so it's pronounced Lily ANNA (apparently if you spell it Liliana, it's said Lily AWNA). Sooo the only thing is I am set on my mom's name as the middle name...Diana.
Does that sound funny?
Lilianna Diana?

Thanks for your input.

Re: Girl name...sound funny?

  • It's a little sing-songy, but it's still a pretty name, and after the first year, how often does a middle name get mentioned anyway.

  • I think you might run into some people still calling her Lilliana. I like the name but you might be correcting a lot of people, and spelling errors.

  • I like Lilianna, but i think Lilianna Diana is a little much, I like what the PP put about maybe using Lilianna Diane.
  • I like it - we were considering Penelope Kelly if #4 was a girl!
  • I think it sounds funny. But people don't go by their middle names much so if you feel strongly, then go for it.

  • I agree with maybe doing Lillianna Diane. Just gotta say- kuddos for researching the pronunciation you want it to be read as. No crazy spelling and having everyone guess wrong. I read LiliANNA at first glance :)

  • While they are both beautiful names, I admit I chuckled when I read it.

  • The two names are a lil weird together but I agree, how often will you be using her first and middle name or full name together

  • I wouldn't do it, personally. I think Lillianna Diane is a good compromise. Or Lillian Diana.

  • I think so. I think all rhyming or slant rhyming names sound kind of funny. I think Lillian Diana or Lilianna Diane sound nice and both keep with the names you've chosen to some extent.

    I agree with the above!
  • So I grew up with a girl Starre Kitarre ... And once we found out her whole name rhymed, (including last name which I left out), we always called her by all 3 names. It just became a thing. We weren't being mean kids or anything, it's just what ended up happening, but we found out later on that Starre hated it.

Long story short, people say "how often will you use the whole name" but sometimes it gets out because of it's uniqueness and you can't put the lid back on once it's out.

  • I think it sounds weird with Diana as the middle name.  Granted, you don't say a person's full name very often, so it probably doesn't matter.  Also, I think I would still pronounce it Lily Awna, so good luck with that.  You will probably get a mix of both when people read her name and say it.
