anterior placenta

Hey ladies I'm at 21 weeks and haven't felt any kicks yet :(. Maybe a flutter onxe or twice?? Anyone else with an anterior placenta or has had one before? When did you feel kicks? When will DH feel kicks?

Re: anterior placenta

  • Anterior placenta usually hinders movement until about 24/25 weeks. After that, baby is large enough that you should start feeling regular movement.

  • My best friend had an anterior placenta with both pregnancies (she's 23 weeks with her second). She said she didn't feel her first move until about 24 weeks. With this one, she felt him at about 16 weeks. I'm sure in the next month you'll start to feel your little one :)
  • I've got an anterior placenta and I'm at 21 weeks. I haven't felt anything but not really worrying about it until I get to 24 weeks. Little man is healthy and wiggly on ultrasounds, so I know I just have to wait patiently until he's big enough for me to feel him :)
  • I also have an anterior placenta.  I'm 21 weeks and haven't felt anything yet.  I spoke to my Dr. about it yesterday and she said it's to be expected.  She said soon enough I'll feel it, and be patient  :D
  • 21w, anterior placenta, no movements felt yet.  But my Doppler got delivered today and awaits me at home so I will be doing my own check-up as soon as I get off work!!!

Is this your first? I have an anterior placenta and I've been feeling my little guy for over a month and it became more noticeable recently. I started actually seeing movement last weekend. This is my 2nd baby so that could have a lot to do with it and I think mine is closer to the top of my uterus than right in the front, too. Most of the movement I see is really low unless it's a hiccup or a really strong whop to my organs lol

I wouldn't worry, though, since everyone is different and so are our little bitties. I know it's easier said than done and I just about lost my mind with DS waiting for all those crazy kicks and whatnot the women in my group would giggle about having so I'm sorry in advance for that!

Hope you and DH get a good punch or kick soon and looking forward to hearing all about it when you get it!

  • I have an anterior placenta and have been able to feel the baby since 19 wks. DH could feel it at 20 wks. I was surprised to feel the baby so early- everyone told me it would take much longer.

  • I don't know where mine is but I know that I only occasionally feel small movements. I'm 20 w 5d. On our a/s the baby was relatively chill in there though.

  • I too have one, first pregnancy, and have just started to feel the teeniest flutters (23+2) and really it's still very sporadic
  • I've been feeing her for a month now. It all depends on how she is laying in there. Some days she kicks more than often. Most of the kicks are to the side or top. I do feel light scratches and when she rolls. This is my 3rd pregnancy though.

I have a Doppler and it's tough to hear her sometimes b/c of the placenta. I usually have to go low and on the sides to get her.
  • Anterior here and I felt at 20 weeks, even stronger now at 23 weeks
