When to start buying stuff?!

Hey all first time mom here... So please be kind. I have been looking at a crib I really really like and the price is right however it only has a 10 day return policy. So my question is ... Is it to early to start making big ticket purchases when I'm only 14 1/2 weeks?

    Personal preference I think- there is no right or wrong. We already bought a crib weeks ago (I am 13 weeks tommorrow) because it was a modern/used crib in amazing condition and for a steal! My husband is going to refinish it for the nursery :D Happy shopping!

    I say if it's the crib you want for sure...get it.

    Think about things like return policies, expiration of carseats (if you plan on having more than one kid), and also remember that when the 2015 models of things come out - will you want latest & greatest or will you be looking for the 2014 stuff that goes on super sale to make room for 2015?

    Also - will you be registering and having a shower?

    If you are ready to make a big purchase - go for it - but it is still ok to wait too.


    I got my crib before the nursery was ready, I was so excited, I built it in the dining room, then realized it was too big to fit through the doorway to the nursery so it had to be taken apart and re-built anyways.

    I bought our crib early in my first PG, I loved it and it was majorly on sale. I ended up with a missed MC and having the crib in the house majorly sucked! We kept it out of sight, in the basement until DS was born and use it now. If I were to do it over again I would have waited to get one, good deals come around all the time.

    I think it's a personal preference. Everyone is different. Plus, it's hard to pass up a good deal.


    I caught a lot of flack when we painted our spare bedroom how we wanted it when it would be used as a nursery. I only wanted to paint the room once. Our families liked to remind us that we may not have kids or whatever, but the way I saw it: if we couldn't have kids, we planned on fostering, anyway. So pllllllp (we have some negative thinkers in our families, nothing medical led anyone to believe there was reason we couldn't procreate...).

    I don't think there is a right or wrong, Im on baby #3 with a huge gap between #2 and #3 so we need everything again. If i found a great deal i would jump on it, I'm almost 14 weeks. Im holding out for Black Friday, hoping we can find everything we need at great prices.
