De Quervain's tenosynovitis

Have any of you experienced De Quervain's tenosynovitis while pregnant? My thumb has been bothering me for a month now and it was bearable until yesterday afternoon. Now, it is swollen and feels broken, I can't use my left thumb and have limited use of my hand. And the PAIN! I thought it was carpal tunnel at first, but dr. google tells me it is actually this other disorder. I was hoping for some good news that it will ease up soon...or any advice! Thanks!

  • Is your pain constant or does it come and go?  Reading up about it, I'm wondering if this is what I'm experiencing, although I do have carpal tunnel too.  My pain that sounds like this is mostly in the evening though and doesn't last.  According to Mayo Clinic, it says it can be pregnancy related and should get better at the end of pregnancy.  Either way, bring it up to your doc!

  • It's constant. Right now it only hurts if I try to use it or move my wrist or thumb. I am going to get in with my acupuncturist tomorrow and see if that helps. And I will get a wrist brace today. I'm not sure I can go another 3 months without using my thumb! Will definitely mention it to my dr. I hope you get some relief soon as well!
  • Thank you! I've been wearing a wrist brace with thumb support and it seems to be helping. I only take if off to shower - it feels so much better when it's on so I don't want to take it off!
