I had it after my first, got it put in at my 6wk check up with just mild discomfort for a couple days after. I wasn't breastfeeding so can't speak to that. My periods weren't bad at all with it. I loved it and would've got it again, but we opted to have DH get a vasectomy instead. ETA: I got pregnant with DD 2 months after removing it
I had it before I had kids. I wanted to be on birth control but needed to be off hormones. I really wanted to like it. I couldn't feel it and loved not ever having to think about it. But, my periods were so heavy. Would come every 30 days or so, last for 7 days but they were so heavy I would go through a super tampon in less than an hour. Eventually it made me really anemic since I was bleeding so much and I had to have it taken out.

I've only had it for 5 days but it hasn't affected BFing so far. They did say about the possibility of heavier periods, and that if I were to end up pregnant while having it in, the chances of a tubal pregnancy are really high.
