When did you tell the world?

When did you all tell everyone you are pregnant? I am 11 weeks just started into my 12th week and we have told some friends and my husband is worried word is going to get around to his grandparents before we tell them. I want to wait another week because I want to tell all the aunts and uncles and grandparents at once because they are all blabber mouths! He feels it's safe to tell by now but I just feel unsure about telling even though I'm bursting at the seems!

  • I told my inner circle (mom, sister, in-laws) at about 7 weeks. Then my in-laws, son and I went to a funeral in Colorado. And while we were there my mother in-law said "shes got news to tell you" and when I said I didn't want to say it just yet my mother in-law got mad at me and the people I want going to tell basically said that I had to tell them because she opened her big mouth! My mother in-law did this about 5 times KNOWING that I didn't want people knowing yet. I was so mad!!!

So long story short 7 weeks.

  • We told my SIL(DHsister and my BFF) and her family two weeks ago. She is so excited. We also just told everyone else yesterday. We are so excited and happy to see that everyone is so thrilled for us. I am 16 weeks and 6days.

Everyone is different though. I say talk it out some more with your H and come up with a compromise.

  • We told our parents right away because of our previous loss and would want their support if we had an early loss again. We told everyone else at 14 weeks which was last Friday.

  • Our immediate family and close friends knew right away since they all knew we were doing IVF.  We told extended family and friends today, 14 weeks.  We haven't told the world yet, mainly I have yet to say anything on FB since I really have no idea how I'd say it.

    All Welcome

  • I've told most family members and lots of friends, some work people. I haven't made the social media announcement yet because DH still hasn't told some friends.

  • We told close family and close friends around 6-8 weeks. We told the world this past Sunday.

  • I told immediate family and some neighbors between 7-9 weeks.  I haven't told extended family yet and will do so when I see them at Thanksgiving or if I see them in person before then. We haven't even told our 2 DD's yet, and I'm currently 11+1.  I'm not sure if we'll do anything on social media.

  • I told close family at 5 weeks, after a week of spotting but before our first ultrasound. I was partly nervous to announce so soon but we were so excited and hopeful. We announced on Facebook at 11 weeks after two successful ultrasounds. I wanted to wait until 13 weeks but DH was super excited so we compromised after the 2nd ultrasound was so great :)
  • Thanks for all your stories! I know it's when we will right about it but I just don't know when that is. On top of it all my husbands cousin just announced today..... Jeeze guess I'll wait a little while now!
  • I told my parents and sister right when we found out (about 4 weeks). I eventually told my aunt that I'm super close with at 10 weeks because I couldn't keep it from her any longer! My work peeps know, and very few close friends (like 2). But I think I'm the odd man out here because I'm 14 weeks and still haven't announced! We are waiting till the whole fam is together on vacation next week and I will be 15 weeks when we anounce. We will post on social media right after we tell them. This is my first so you still can't tell I'm pregnant at all.
  • I'm 13 weeks 2 days and I have told a very small amount of people and my mom. But I refuse to tell my in laws so they can rain on our parade. They are like parasites and I could wait to tell them till baby comes (not practical I know) but will most likely announce in the next few weeks. Maybe near Halloween. I love all the pumpkin announcement pictures with the little pumpkin being added to the patch.
  • I'm 13 weeks. We told our parents at 4 weeks. After our 12 week OB appointment, we shared the news with relatives and close friends with a private video link of us doing a spoof of Awkward Family Photos. We plan to announce on social media at 16 weeks after another doctors appointment.
  • I'm 14 weeks and 2 days. Only close family and friends know. Definitely won't be telling anyone else until my appt next week. It's all a personal preference.
  • I told my two closest friends and my boyfriends parents right when we found out (about 5.5 weeks). I told my mom after my first ultrasound at 9 weeks. I told my bosses on Monday (11wk 1 day). I plan on telling a few other people after my check up tomorrow but I won't be making any big announcement. My sister in law is absolutely toxic so I'm trying to hold off on people back home knowing right now because she will do everything in her power to ruin this for me. Luckily, they live 14 hours away so I don't have to actually see them...
  • My husband and I told our parents and best friends as soon as we found out. Then we announced on facebook after our NT scan at 13 weeks.
  • I told my sister the morning I peed on the stick, but mostly because I didn't want to unload all my worries on my husband. (He and I were dazed enough as it was.) Told a few friends in the following weeks and then our immediate families after the 8-week ultrasound. I told my work at 12 weeks. Beyond that, we don't plan to do one big announcement (on FB or anything); just figure we'll tell folks as we see them. We like that it keeps the whole experience more personal.
  • How rude!! I had some inter-family blab, but I'm just not going to tell anyone next baby. I think your MIL did that because she couldn't or didn't want to keep a secret! My MIL was going crazy keeping it on the DL, but thankfully kept her word.
  • DH and I each told one close friend (in town) when we found out at 4w, we told parents and siblings at 8w, and then had been slowly telling others after 12w and posted the news on FB at 14w.
  • This content has been removed.
  • We have told some close friends but are waiting to tell family until the end of the month. We will be 16 weeks or so. I wanted to have one more appointment to hear a heart beat. It is also my husband's Grandpa's 100th birthday. It should be quite the surprise for his family. :)
  • I went outside with my positive pregnancy test and communed with all the trees, bushes, and critters in our yard right away. So, I'm almost certain The World has known since 6 weeks
    ;)

I waited to tell the fam until 11-12 weeks and I've been telling friends as I see them since last week.

  • I told everyone who I would want their support if we were to have a miscarriage pretty early - immediate family at around 6 weeks and some close friends around 7 weeks. We are telling "the world" at 13 weeks.
