Weight Loss

Hey everyone! I haven't posted in a while but I've been keeping up with all of you and trying my best to stay active!
I just have a question about weight and weight loss. I've been going back and forth between 130 and 127 pounds since I was about 5 weeks pregnant. I will be 12 weeks tomorrow so I weighed myself expecting to see at least some weight gain since I haven't weighed myself for about a week and last time I was 130. Today I was 128. Is this something that's normal? I still have some symptoms but they're easing up as Im leaving my first trimester.
I had my first ultrasound at 7w6d and everything was perfect and the baby had a nice strong heartbeat, but I haven't been able to hear it since then and my next appointment is October 17th where I'll be 13 weeks and we should be able to hear it with a doppler. I'm just wondering if weight has anything to do with chances of a miscarriage. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

normal.   (assuming you aren't horribly underweight to begin with)

things will pick up in 2nd and 3rd tri.

eat a normal healthy well-balanced diet, don't deprive yourself if you are hungry.

(I've lost 17 pounds in 1st tri - I'm heavier in general - but my docs aren't concerned)

  • I've been a healthy weight at the start of all three pregnancies. I always lose 5 lbs. at the beginning and don't actually gain weight until around 20 weeks. I still end the pregnancy with the recommended weight gain without trying. The fluctuations are normal even if you are not pregnant, but add in the weirdness that is pregnancy and + or - 3lbs. isn't really worth talking about. Of course you can always talk to your dr. I mean, if you are 6ft. 2.in and 128lbs. there might be something to worry about.

  • I have lost 15 lbs and I'm almost 12wks - I was told its fine - you should have enough vitamin reserve in your body to handle your pregnancy for the first few weeks - by the 2nd tri u should start eating a bit more and gaining some weight.
  • Thanks everyone for the information! I know it's probably a dumb question but I do appreciate you taking the time to reply.
  • I've been bouncing around those exact same numbers. I expect we'll be climbing fairly steadily soon enough!
  • Also keep in mind the time you weigh. I am 155 every morning (now 157) and 160 every night (still).
