I think DD received enough clothing at my shower to last AT LEAST the first year. This in addition to what MIL has been steadily sending me since first tri and a few cute things that I bought. Yowza
I purposefully didn't buy any baby clothes because I knew i'd be having 3 showers. However, my cousin who just had a baby last year gave me 3 boxes full of baby clothes ranging from newborn to 18 months. Her kid didn't even wear half the stuff since she skipped two sizes (she is a huge 1 year old now!). I washed up all the baby clothes I got and it ended up being 3 loads worth! I still have 1 shower to go!
Yep when I had my DD I didn't have to buy any clothes for her for almost a year. Even after my shower my aunt bought a crap ton of clothes for her, my mom and MIL did the same too. I may have bought little things here and there, but definitely not many items. That is why I was so happy that this baby was a girl too, because both of my girls will be January babies and now all the clothes that DD wore once or twice will get to be worn again and I won't feel so guilty!!! LOL
Ugh...I just made this comment to a friend. Our baby has well over 50 outfits. It's ridiculous. DH & I have only bought a coming home outfit and things for next winter (like a winter coat) simply because he won't possibly wear all that he as. I actually just went and added a little note on our registry that said the baby had plenty of clothes. I'm sure people will still buy them, but it's ridiculous!!
We got 30-40 newborn & 3-6 outfits at my shower. I did buy quite a bit of clothing on sale during the Christmas season at 60% off. So I stock up on 6-9 mos outfits for summer.
