Zofran!

I went to my first appt today with a midwife (who was awesome, btw), and she is prescribing me Zofran to kill my all-day m/s!
Cannot wait to pop one of those suckers and feel NORMAL again.
Maybe I can get through a weightlifting session without gagging at the smell of men's sweat. ;)

Anyone else on Zofran or special anti-nausea meds?

Re: Zofran!

  • No but I'm wishing I was. I feel terrible. I hope it helps! I might mention it to my dr when I go back.

Definitely do! I used it when I was pg with my DD, and it worked miracles.
  • I was put on Prochlorperazine at week 8 ( will be 11 weeks tomorrow ) and they have been total life savers! Couldn't eat a meal or even smell certain smells before without being sick, it was all day and all night but now I feel totally normal, they worked a treat! When they start to wear off I feel awful so I am very very glad to have found a tablet that works for me as without it I would of definitely been hospitalised with dehydration! X

I was prescribed it but to be honest with you, the B6/unisom combo works so much better for me. I threw up several times on Zofran the first day I took it :( I hope you find it works better for you
Wow-- I'm sorry! I've taken it with my previous pregnancy and was fine. But-- if this pregnancy is different, I will definitely try that combo.
  • I use zofran but I have to use it around the clock or else I live by the toliet. Luckily it takes the edge off and I'm not throwing up but I still get nauseous even when taking it.

I hope that it works for you!
  • Just be careful and make sure you aren't getting overly constipated with them. I was taking them like PEZ candy (following dosing instructions mind you) and got severely constipated. Like, *TMI*, enema needed. Keep plenty of fluids going. Hope it works for you, it has helped me some but completely.

  • I don't need it this pregnancy but I used the b6/unisom combo in previous pregnancies. Personally I hate zofran because it constipates me so it's a last resort type of medication for me.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • I was prescribed Diclegis and it's been such a help. I still dry heave and smells make me sick but I am not barfing multiple times a day anymore. Only thing is, I feel like a zombie!
  • I just started taking it myself.  Yesterday was great!  Today it is working, but not as well.  Oh well.. its better than constantly choking down dry heaves and puke. :)

  • I have Diclegis. It helps but I'm week 8 now and starting the gagging again and vomited a couple times while on the med

  • Yes, she told me to take Colace twice a day to prevent constipation. Let's just hope it helps! I want my life back.
  • Good luck. I hope it works again for you! I have a prescription but haven't filled it. I took it 24/7 in last pregnancy (had HG) and it did NOTHING at all for me. So I figured why waste the effort swallowing the pill (or the money paying for it). Hope it works like a charm for you.
  • I finally caved and called my OB this morning to call in a prescription of Zofran for me. I just took a pill and it helped immediately. Who wants to eat now??

  • I've been cursed with all day sickness for weeks now (currently 10w5) and was finally able to talk my dr into prescribing me something. Except it's Phenergan. I've been scared to take it because I've heard it knocks you out. I'm a working girl - I can't be sleeping at my desk (although the excuse would be nice)! Thinking about just toughing it out until my next appt in another week and asking for an alternative...
  • I got it yesterday after work and I felt much better last night/today. I don't remember it working as well with my son, but I feel like a completely different person today.

  • I had that with my DD, it straight up punched me in the face, I was out for a whole day. Take a half when you are home with food and see how that effects you.

Whoa. Will definitely try that...if anything I'll get an entire nights sleep for once! :)
  • My Dr put me on Zofran at week 6 because I could not stop throwing up, it made me super constipated!!! I took it for a week and never went to the bathroom, I finally quit taking it and after about 3 days and drinking prune juice I was able to go to the bathroom. If you take it daily I suggest drinking prune juice every day to make sure you can still go to the bathroom, I stopped taking it because I would rather be nauseous than backed up. But I am sure it effects everyone differently, it does work though for nausea.
  • @Ballet80‌ - Yeah...she told me to take Colace twice a day to stay regulated. I eat a ton of fiber already in my diet, so I should be good.
  • Then you should be good, my doctor didn't warn me about the side effect and I felt like I was dying, my stomach was so swollen!!!
  • uggg you mean it's SAFE? i was told by several friends it wasn't deemed safe in pregnancy anymore and since i haven't seen dr yet i took their word for it. I'm miserable and have a bottle in the cabinet(i take it with my migraine meds).

Looks like i might function tomorrow :)

  • me! I have been on it for a little over a month now. It seriously backed me up though. I have been dealing with severe constipation. So now taking colace 2 times a day and miralax as needed. LOL. Hope it does the trick for you! It took the edge off of my m/s for me and helped cut back my daily puking fits.

My prescription says only to take it every 6 hours and so far it has helped my ms subside but only by around 60-70%. Still feeling iffy. So far I've only had more gas, but we will see...
