Tuckamore

You've probably never heard of it, but I assure you that it is not made up. However, it also isn't a name for a child.

Tuckamore is the name given to small sturdy trees that grow on the sides of cliffs along the ocean in Newfoundland. They withstand strong salty winds in very rocky soil and other harsh conditions.

The cliffs of NL have many special meanings to me. I want to use it as a name for our little boy. We'll have him go by Tuck for short.

Please, let me know what you think. I need honesty!

    I'm a fan of common names but I like that you'd use Tuck more often than Tuckamore.

    That is a mouthful and does not sound like a name at all.

    I understand that it is meaningful to you, so please understand that I am not dismissing this out of hand or trying to minimize your question or be rude... But I really think this should stay the name of a tree and not a human child. It is not just odd -- it doesn't sound like a name. Not all plant names make great people names.  Why not just go with Tuck as the name knowing that it was inspired by the plant? Not quite as literal, but the meaning would still be there.

    Married 4/2010, TTC since 7/2011

    Dx: Officially Unexplained (I have Polycystic Ovaries diagnosed via ultrasound, but few classic PCOS symptoms, he has mild MF issues. So... not issue free, but nothing so severe as to explain IF)

    I also deal with post-surgical Hypothyroidism following Thyroid Cancer in 2009, but under control with Levothyroxine

    4 months Clomid (thinned lining) and 10 months Letrozole (every indication that I responded perfectly)

    6 failed IUIs in 2013, 3 with trigger

    IVF #1 in March 2014

    ER 3/21/14, 31R/21F, 12 frosties!

    ET 3/26/14, 1 perfect blast transferred: BFN

    FET#1 5/28/14, 2 "beautiful" early blasts transferred. BFP!!

    Beta #1 (6/11/14) 798; Beta #2 (6/18/14) 7,966.

    1st u/s (6/25/14) showed 2 sacs, 1 empty & 1 with a beautiful little bean doing what it needs to do!

    EDD 2/14/15, missed miscarriage, DX: Trisomy 21. D&C 8/1/14

    FET#2 Transferred 3 embies, 2 looking pretty good, one not so much. BFN.

    IVF#2 January 2015, tentative ER 1/23

    This is coming from a person who loves trees. Seriously.

    I really don't mind the nn Tuck, but Tuckamore definitely sounds like a tree type. Like sycamore.

    My fave tree is the baobab. It's even a really cool name for a tree, but I'd never saddle a kid with that name.
    Started adoption process in Jan. 2011.
    3 failed matches in 2012.
    Surprise pregnancy in Aug. 2012.
    Precious baby boy "HC" born May 2013.
    Began researching EA in 2014.
    No longer pursuing EA due to fibroid complications.
    Officially on the adoption home study wait list.

    it's not my style. plus, tuck tuck bo buck banana fana fo......... lol. but if it has significance and you love it, that's what counts, right? i'd use it as a mn though. 
    trying for #1 since May 2012... we're adopting! bringing home baby boy in january 2015!

    You said it yourself, it isn't a name for a child. If you have to use it I'd mn it.

    Tuck is fine or tucker. My honest first reaction to tuckamore is that it sounds like a drag queen's stage name.

    I'd middle name it for sure. It's totally cool to have a crazy middle name with meaning. It's a neat story for him to tell but when it's your first name and every freaking time you meet somebody, you have to explain that your mom likes the trees in the cliffs of NL, it's going to get old really fast. I think it is a sweet middle name though.
